One thing I have come to understand and make peace with is that you can't stop growth. Technology is dynamic. It would always change, improve, evolve and you can't do a goddam thing about it(Lol, forgive my language). AI is here to stay and the best you can do is to adopt it early enough and see how it can improve your workflow.
I have an Argument:
For the millennials and early Genz's, you might be familiar with this contraption.
The grinding stone was used especially in Africa as a continent and Nigeria. It was a common kitchen tool used to grind pepper, fruits and other food items. Even today, some people still argue that pepper ground with a grinding stone gives the best taste and texture to food.
And they might be right cos I remember as a child, my Mum used this to prepare our meals and it tasted quite good. I was pretty young so who knows, the fragments I remember might not just be entirely accurate.
Imagine in the age as a food seller, you still use this, a grinding stone to blend your pepper. You would get it done but you won't be able to match your competitors that use an electric powered blender to blend pepper, fruits and other items in split seconds.
You would get the work done, yes
But would you be able to keep up?
I doubt
Can you feel my drift!
That is exactly how I see technology and AI today.
There were a lot of people that chose not to adopt this early enough because it felt like it was unnatural or cheating. Trust me, they paid the price. The truth is people who don't adopt technology often get left behind.
Don't get me wrong, that does not mean the old ways were bad. It simply means the world moved forward.
In essence, what I was trying to prove is that you might not like that a new technology has come because it makes you feel lazy or less creative but I implore people to understand that technology(AI in this case) is here to stay and the best you can do for yourself is to adopt it early in your life.
There is a misconception that AI stuns your creativity and makes you lazy. I beg to differ.
Let's understand that every innovation has its good and bad sides. it just depends on how you use it. As sweet as sugar is, too much of it could be very harmful to the body and too little of it lowers your blood sugar level which is also bad for the health.
Balance is key. ποΈ
AI should be treated the same way.
It should not replace the human mind, it should support it.
For instance, writers can you AI to organize thoughts, Engineers can use it run confirm calculations or predict outcomes, content creators can use it for brainstorming. However the original thought, emotion and feeling should come from the human mind and not a machine.
Words and creativity without feeling lacks this dept. I don't know how to explain it but it lacks this human touch.
Feeling in your craft is what keeps Art alive.
Ethical considerations should be put in place when making use of AI.
AI should be used as an assistant and not a ship to sail on its own. It needs a captain that always understands the fundamentals to be able to enhance his already creative side and use AI mainly for automating mundane tasks.
