Hey Everyone!!
In today’s fast-paced world of modernization and trends, staying connected to one’s roots has somehow become an afterthought. Cultural traditions, rituals, and values that were once the foundation of our identity are now labeled as outdated, boring, or unnecessary. The newer generation often sees age-old practices not as a source of pride, but as a burden, something to hide or discard in the name of progress.
Modernization is often confused with Westernization. Dressing a certain way, talking in a certain accent, celebrating imported holidays with enthusiasm — these are considered "cool." But when it comes to our own festivals, customs, or languages, there’s a strange hesitation. A person who follows their culture deeply is mocked as "too traditional" or "backward," while someone chasing temporary, flashy trends is cheered for being modern.
The saddest part is, many of us don’t even realize what we’re losing in this race. Culture is not just a set of rituals — it’s a legacy of wisdom, ethics, and values passed down through generations. Our traditions taught us to respect elders, care for nature, value relationships, and stay grounded no matter how far we fly. But today, those who live by such principles are questioned, while blind followers of shallow trends are praised.
This doesn’t mean we shouldn't evolve. Modern tools, technologies, and ideas have improved lives in countless ways. But evolution should never come at the cost of erasing your identity. Real progress is when you grow while staying rooted, when you embrace the new but carry forward the essence of who you are.
So, ask yourself: Are you really becoming modern, or are you just losing your roots in the name of it? Because if you don’t know where you came from, you’ll never know where you’re going. And the hollow glitter of borrowed trends can never match the warmth of your own heritage.
