The Iriji Mbaise festival is known to be the festival celebrated, amongst the Igbos especially the mbaise clans, it is a well rooted festival for the Igbos, it is called the eriji mbaise festival. This festival is always scheduled on the 15th of August, once a year every Year this festival always holds in the small city in the imo state. This festival is so honored that anything as important as the government holidays, what, I mean is any political events are cancelled, any social, spiritual events all these has to pause for this festival.

This festival is a festival for yam, I will explain more for those who doesn't understand this culture, In My state imo state, mbaise, on every 15th of August every once in a year. There's a Yam festival that takes place in my town, this festival is set aside as a thanksgiving to God for a good harvest and offering of prayers for better ones in the seasons ahead. Of all the crops in the farm and nature of life, Yam is the most reserved crops in the igboland, in the igboland Yam is the king, I know this will shock a lot of us reading but it the truth.

This festival called Iriji Mbaise has been has gone international that the sons and daughters of mbaise participate all over the world. This event is always handled by the (indi egie) meaning elders of the mbaise town, it is usually a big celebration a lot of people are gathered, even the children of the mbaise town that are based in abroad do come home for this festival.

This festival is so beautiful the last time, I attended it, I was a little bit younger but i could remember the festival was beautiful and there was a lot of Yam to eat. I will make sure, I attend this year's own and i will come back to tell you all how it went with real pictures.
