Thinking about it just brings back memories upon memories, and this particular one was an experience worth remembering between me and my bestie... We are no longer besties again after she got married, but the memories we have together are always a joy to look back to. We were friends from year one and grew to be besties or school siblings... I remember how many people wished we dated and ended up together, some can't believe till date that we were just friends because of how close we were. During our hostel days we did almost everything together, from cooking to reading and everything in between, you would hardly see us apart, and if I am to be sincere we never saw ourselves for once as anything more than friends (at least from my end, plus she never mentioned anything) I couldn't even imagine us in a romantic relationship, yet I genuinely loved her as I would my sister.
One of the funny experiences we had was under a heavy downpour, very hard to forget lol, it was her birthday and the hostel rule was that anybody celebrating their birthday must be baptized (as they will call drenching you with all kinds of disgusting liquid). Knowing this, I decided I wasn't sleeping in the hostel that night, and decided to sleep at a friend's place off camp because the hostel rules also apply to anyone known to be close to the celebrant. She was baptized as expected the next morning and everyone was looking for me to be baptized as well, but glory to God, I was nowhere to be found. My bestie was really upset even though I sent her birthday wishes, she knew I left the hostel because I didn't want to be a part of her baptism.

To punish me she decided she wouldn't cook (knowing my love for food). I came back the next day really hungry and everyone told me how lucky I was as so many had planned to baptize me personally. I was hoping I would eat immediately after I came back, but unfortunately, there was no food, immediately I knew it was my punishment and I decided to go appease the gods. After plenty of begging, she finally decided to cook the birthday food, but we could not eat immediately because it was passed time to go for some church errands. I was banked on eating before going, but she insisted on eating afterward because the food was still very hot, and we weren't supposed to take long, 30 minutes max. Unfortunately, again we finished and were held up by our fellowship pastor who asked us to escort him for a ministration that he said was ending soon.
With tears in our hearts, and hunger in our stomachs we escorted him, truly the ministry wasn't long but almost immediately the weather changed. I was consoling myself with the thought of the rain calming down by the close of service, but that was only the beginning of the heavy downpour that was about to happen. Again I was consoling myself with the thought of the pastor taking us back to the hostel with his car, only for him to tell us he was going somewhere else afterward and gave us transport fare back to the hostel. At this point, the heavy downpour was really much and with how hungry we were, 10 minutes looked like a year. I can't remember whose idea it was to enter the rain seeing that even vehicles were not on the road at this point, but we entered anyway, spending over an hour trekking inside the rain, laughing singing, and playing too until we got to the hostel and realized we had been drenched body soul and spirit. We ended up changing our clothes and taking a hot tea alongside the food we had been waiting for, before remembering to bath. We also ended up with a terrible cold afterward, but I think we will still do it all over again given the chance.
Thanks again for stopping by my blog today, until next time.
