It's another task in the newbies initiative program, and I will be doing a run-through on the following
DO'S AND DON'Ts IN HIVE
MARKDOWN DOWNS AND LINKS (I will do a little touch on this)
CANVA TUTORIAL (I will be showing you how I came up with the Canva design I used for this post.)
If I'm, to be honest, this task was really challenging looking at everything I had to learn to successfully write this post. At first, I wasn't understanding the things I was learning (especially the markdowns and links) until I practice them on this post. However, I will admit it was worth the stress as I now know so much for myself already. Back to business...
DO'S AND DON'T ON HIVE
When we talk about the Do's and don't, we talk about important things to note as a blogger on hive. You can also call them rules to follow so you don't end up on the bad side of the hive watchers; the Job of the hive watchers is to look into activities on the hive Blockchain and to penalize those who default by breaking rules whether knowingly or unknowingly.
PLAGIARISM
This means copying other people's work without acknowledging that you are not the original author, thereby assuming it is yours. In simple terms it is using other peoples content as your own, it is seen as stealing, and a no-no as far as the hive Blockchain is concerned, if you are new to the hive Blockchain, the first thing you must learn to avoid is plagiarism of any kind. Whether it is from a friend or family, as long as it's not yours, acknowledge the original owner. As a matter of fact, it's best to not even copy the content of others, instead show originality and learn from others.
SOURCING
It is advisable to note that using a picture that is not yours in any way, especially downloaded pictures from the internet is heavily frowned upon and also considered plagiarism. It is best to use pictures your own pictures, but at the same time, it's understandable that you might not have a picture for every topic you are discussing, and in cases like that you are allowed to download free pictures from verified sites in the internet as long as you source them properly.
Sourcing a picture is acknowledging the owner of the picture, which is very much accepted. And these pictures can only be downloaded from sites who free copyright access. Examples of these sites include
https://pixels.com
https://pixabay.com
https://freepik.com
Sourcing an image is super easy, once you post the image, you simply add the syntax below at the bottom of the image

TAGGING
I didn't know the importance of tags until I made a post (as a newbie) and innocently tagged hivefest... Long story short, I was massively downvoted for that action despite the fact that I didn't know it was wrong to use the wrong tag for the wrong post. There are tags associated with every post you make on the hive Blockchain and learning about them is very important to growth on the Blockchain.
That's why it is advisable to participate in community contests so you can learn about tags commonly used in the community. Tags give visibility to a post, so it's always vital to use the right tag for the right post.
ENGAGEMENTS
I call this the number one growth strategy on the hive Blockchain, it's important because of the relationship it helps newbies get on hive. Engagement is simply actively reading other peoples posts to upvote and share your views afterward. So many people try to play smart by going to people's posts and dropping comments without reading the contents of the post. This is known as poor engagement and won't take you anywhere. It's better to skip a post if that's what you have in mind.
VOTE BEGGING
This will only make people see you as desperate and ignore you. Never go to people's comment sections to beg for votes whether directly or indirectly, as it will cost you more
MARKDOWNS ON HIVE
Markdowns are codes you can use to make your post more presentable, I just learned about them now, and they are really simple and interesting hacks if you decide to try them out.
HEADERS
The header can be gotten by simply adding # and space before you write whatever you want to write. If you check this post, you will discover I made use of them, and they vary in size. You can use some for main headings and some for subheadings depending on what you want. There are 6 types of headings and each has its number of # (hashtags) from 1# to 6#. The heading often becomes smaller as you add more #. This is how they look like adding a hash to the word Hive.

ITALICS
To italicize your word or phrase, you need to add one * to the word or phrase... Example:
*HIVE*
BOLD
Making your text bold is also really easy, all you need to do is add two * before and after your text. Just like this
**HIVE**
ITALICS BOLD
Making this requires three * just like this
***HIVE***
HIGHLIGHTING
To highlight a text, you just add two equal to signs before and after the text or phrase
==HIVE==
TABLES
Making tables is not as complex as it looks if you follow it through and through
|HIVE 1| HIVE 2| HIVE 3|
|---|---|---|
|Hive| Hive| Hive|
| 1| 2| 3|
It will look like this
| HIVE 1 | HIVE 2 | HIVE 3 |
|---|---|---|
| Hive | Hive | Hive |
| 1 | 2 | 3 |
There are many more markdowns, but I will leave them here for this post.
CANVA TUTORIAL
Before I go, let me quickly do a run-through on how I came up with my Canva thumbnail. It's not really difficult at all, just work with me...
As you can see, this was the template I choose after I log in to my Canva account.
The next thing I did was to change the photo in the picture, after which I started editing the text on the design
As you can see, it's as simple as it gets. If you stayed till the end, I say thank you for following me through. I will like to also thank my team leader for the support.
Thanks for stopping by my blog today, until next time.
