Greetings to you all!
Few days ago, news broke about how China refused to grant a $12.8 billion loan to my dear country, Nigeria.
Normally, anybody who hears this would scream, "$22.8 billion for what?!"

Yesterday, while listening to a radio station, this question was thrown to the listeners, and all the responses landed harshly on the government.
I dislike politics, but that wouldn't make me stay away from knowledge of such happenings in my country. And to be honest, this issue of embezzlement and uncountability is one of the reasons I frown at politics. You would hear, 100 billion naira being released for the construction of a bridge, and the person in charge would end up building a walkway with sticks and bamboo cut from the farm. Funny enough, they'll write that that was what 100 billion naira was able to afford. Haven't you heard such a thing? Google Desmond Elliott.🙄
Well, I'm not here to criticize...
ONE THING the government should spend money on
In a country like Nigeria, it's very hard to single out a particular sector that the government should spend on because all the major sectors need maximum attention.
Should we say school? If you check the records, private institutions are doing better than the government-owned schools and this is as a result poor attentions ofthr Government. This goes to almost all the sectors....Maybe they should just share the money and give it to everyone because government are not helping matter.
Let me pick one...
- The Health sector
You wouldn't know how bad the health sector in the country is until you take someone to the hospital and you get referred to another city because the present hospital is not equipped enough. It becomes worse if the patient is in Delta State and he gets referred to Lagos for treatment (while the patient is in a critical situation).
Or let's say you get to the hospital and the doctor refuses to attend to a dying patient because government has refused to pay him...and he will refer the patient to his private hospital which always means higher charges.
These are things we see often and it's alarming. I know the situation has been like this from the beginning, but must we continue like this?
The countries where VIPs in my country(Nigeria) go for treatment were once like my country, but it got changed due to the change they pushed into it.
Although some of the big hospitals in the city may meet 55% standard but most of the hospitals in rural areas are below 10%.
The government can do better in allocating funds to put a touch on those hospitals.
I know of a patient who died in a general hospital because there was no blood to infuse into his system. It's so bad.
We always make fun of the statement below;
Government don't remember certain rural areas to disburse amenities due to how local they are, but whenever it's election time, ballot boxes must get there 🥱
No doubt, most of the time, will be be allocated to such places, but the peoplein charge pocket it and no one will question them.
ONE THING they shouldn't spend on
Guys, the list is endless💔.
The one that's 'peppering' my body is allowances allocated to government officials.
In case you don't know, the monthly salary of a senator is around 1.5 million Naira. Is the federal government just printing this money from CBN to pay them? No. This money is being brought out from the budget of the country.
I'm not saying politicians shouldn't be paid for their work, but... what are most of them doing sef?
This is one of the reasons people lobby, fight, and kill citizens just to occupy a position.
This thing is painful because it has always been like this, and I'm not sure if it's ever going to change.
