For four years now, I have felt jealous whenever I saw or heard people jubilate because the weekend was coming. Why can't my weekend be like theirs?😭
When I worked in an eatery as a cashier some years ago, even though we were put on a shift, attendance to work on weekends was made mandatory because the crowd used to be so large and much hands were needed to attend to the crowd, and also, we closed so late on weekends. The only thing I used to enjoy as a way of compensating myself was the weekend football match. Yes, whenever it's the weekend, the Dstv remote remains in my custody; the ladies know that, and they don't argue that.
My weekend starts and ends on Sundays
Now that I'm working for myself, it's also the same as with my previous job with regards to time consumption, especially on weekends. My current nature of work hits hard on weekends (Friday to Saturday), and with that, the only day I feel like a weekend among the three days of the weekend is Sunday.
What I do on Sundays to feel the weekend:
- Church
Church is mandatory for me on Sundays; it's one way I go and cool off, meet God, meet my other family, and still work there...I love the church work so much.
Although church activities chop off a large portion of the day because we start around 6:30 a.m. and close around 11:00 a.m. (multiple services) and before I get home from church, the day is half gone, but it's one of the things that make my weekend a complete one.
- Nap
Sundays are the only day of the week I stay long in my room, and I don't miss the chance to feel the softness of my bed.
I don't get enough sleep during the week; the night time that's meant for sleep is being used to balance out my blogging work, and night time runs so fast. So, taking naps on Sunday afternoon is my ritual; it gives me room to release the accumulated sleep I had dodged during the week days.
My weekend can never be complete without at least an hour of napping on Sunday afternoon.👌
- Football match
This is one lifestyle I don't joke with on weekends. I love to watch football matches a lot, but I'm not a noisemaker like a lot of my friends are.🧐
Watching a football match is one thing I feature in my Sunday plans. Either I go out to watch to feel the shouts of celebration and criticism, or I stream on my phone in my bed.
- Movies
In the absence of football matches, especially during the period when there is no football tournament going on, I settle for movies on Sundays.
Although I haven't been active in seeing movies for a while now because it's been heavily attracting naps, Once I plug in to watch, I won't finish three scenes, and I'll doze off. At this time, I don't fight it; I just let it flow because I own myself for that day and there's no one to query me.
