Hello everyone, how are you doing today? Hope you are having a great time. This will be Week 212 Edition 01 of our Weekly Featured Content.
So, last Saturday we had our hangout as usual, and it was just so much fun that we did not want it to end. We are currently on the first topic for this week, which is “PRIVACY OR SECURITY”.
But before we proceed with the details of the topic, let us take a look at the winners of the last topic, which was “JUVENILE CRIMES”.
This topic was geared toward each member of the community, telling us their thoughts on the crimes that young people committed and how the judicial system handled them. Majorly, minors don’t get prison time; they also have their criminal records cleaned once they come of age, and this is regardless of how the victim and their survivors feel about it.
We got to see that different cases warrant different sentencing. There are cases where the minors are charged as adults, mostly due to the severity of the case. Wiping their criminal records is a way of giving them a second chance at life to start over as a free person. It’s the law. This was an enlightening topic, indeed.
For this topic, we went through every entry post, and that is every post with the #hl-exclusive & #hl-w211e3 tag. And with the number of wonderful posts out there, it was quite difficult to make a selection. But eventually, we did just that. And so, the posts that will be featured not just for their exceptional content, but also for their level of engagement with other authors, will be listed below.

For this author, he told us that a crime is a crime regardless of the person’s age, and everyone should be punished equally. However, the punishment for minors should be different, so that when they’re released back into society, they’d be able to resume life and find direction once more. Justice should never be measured by age.
WHEN AGE ISN’T INNOCENCE: RETHINKING MINOR LAWS by
*For this author, he told us that a lot of minors commit atrocious acts knowing exactly what they’re doing. Many have done really evil things with grave consequences, but because they’re minors, they’re treated with kid gloves. Teenagers these days aren’t kids anymore, and many of them know way more than adults.”
ONE MISTAKE AT 16: THE SHOCKING TRUTH ABOUT JUVENILE CRIME by
This author told us that while he supports the current juvenile system, he feels that every juvenile should be placed on a watchlist after they’re released back into society, so they don’t hurt anyone else. This is because once a life of crime has started, getting out of it might be hard for some, and sending such people back into society would only mean someone would get hurt eventually.
All of the above contents were supported by our official curation account lazy-panda with an extra amount. The first 3 authors will receive 100 ECENCY Points [ Sponsored By Ecency Team (
) ] and 1 $PANDAMINER each as a reward next Monday. These posts were selected because of their special attention to detail and how they followed the topic. There were a lot of good ones out there, but we just could not pick them all.
But then, we have some honorable mentions listed below:

AND NOW, WE MOVE ON TO THE NEW TOPIC!
Week 212 - Edition 01 Topic
“Would it be okay for everyone to give up their right to privacy? That's letting the government have unfettered access to your life and data as long as it means you'll always be safe. They monitor your calls and watch where you go all the time. They know what you eat and what you discuss in your most quiet places. But as a result of this invasive surveillance, they're always close by to protect you. So, will it be worth it to trade privacy for the security of life?”
