Hello everyone, how are you doing today? Hope you are having a great time. This will be Week 214 Edition 03 of our Weekly Featured Content.
Made With Canva
So, last Saturday we had our hangout as usual, and it was just so much fun that we did not want it to end. We are currently on the third topic for this week, which is “PAST THOUGHTS”.
But before we proceed with the details of the topic, let us take a look at the winners of the last topic, which was “PAID INTERNS”.
This topic was geared toward each member of the community, telling us about their thoughts on companies having to pay their interns. When one considers that interns learn in a real environment and face real challenges unique to their field, this is a priceless privilege, but can it also be said that the companies are taking advantage of the interns?
We got to see that, indeed, many times, the interns also need allowances or pocket money to be able to perform their duties as interns. While not full salaries, this will be enough to ensure that they can transport themselves and also take care of other things while they’re learning. It was an enlightening topic, indeed.
For this topic, we went through every entry post, and that is every post with the #hl-exclusive & #hl-w214e3 tag. And with the number of wonderful posts out there, it was quite difficult to make a selection. But eventually, we did just that. And so, the posts that will be featured not just for their exceptional content, but also for their level of engagement with other authors, will be listed below.
Featured Contents
SHOULD INTERNS BE PAID OR JUST BE GREATFUL FOR THE EXPERIENCE? by
For this author, he told us that the internship is a period of training, and as they’re being taught valuable lessons, why then should they be paid? Most companies don’t actually need interns because they have all the staff to do their jobs, but on the flip side, the interns do need the companies. Which is why these trainings they get are valuable, because most of the time, they are free.
COMPANIES ARE EXPLOITING YOU: WHY UNPAID INTERNSHIPS SHOULD BE BANNED by
*For this author, he told us that many of these companies are only taking advantage of the interns because they provide free labour and at no extra cost to the company. They also take advantage of the fact that unemployment is high in the nation and many young people want the experience, so they capitalize on it and offer internship positions, knowing they are getting people who are willing to work for free or next to nothing.”
PAID INTERNS IS A WIN-WIN SITUATON by
This author told us that this is a complex issue that can be looked at from various perspectives. Between getting paid and not getting paid, there can be a middle ground where everyone wins. And this is something that not just the companies or interns can fix, but also with the help of the government. That way, there will be a great solution for everyone.
All of the above contents were supported by our official curation account lazy-panda with an extra amount. The first 3 authors will receive 100 ECENCY Points [ Sponsored By Ecency Team (

But then, we have some honorable mentions listed below:

MUTUAL BENEFIT, MUTUAL PAY: WHY INTERNS DESERVE A FAIR PAYMENT by
These are posts that were also found to be quite exceptional.
AND NOW, WE MOVE ON TO THE NEW TOPIC!
Week 214 - Edition 03 Topic
PAST THOUGHTS
“Should a person be made to pay for the opinions or beliefs they held in the past due to how controversial they were? We've seen people get cancelled, lose contracts, and their jobs because old posts resurfaced where they said some terrible things. Should they pay for those things, especially when they've grown to become better individuals? Or should the world simply focus on who they are today and let bygones be bygones? Let us know.”
