I was very happy when I saw the topic for this edition of Hive learners' weekly featured contents, why? Because I absolutely love comedy! My favorite movie genre is comedy (closely followed by horror 😉) and I also watch a lot of comedy skits and stand-up comedies, although those are not as popular as they used to be in the past, during the time of basketmouth, bovi (my fav), klint the drunk and others.
Back in the day, I used to watch comedy shows like Night of a Thousand Laugh and stand up Nigeria which was usually shown at night. I also remember buying a lot of AY live show CD plates which come in different volumes. Each year after the show has taken place, I just wait a few weeks or months and buy the recordings of it in CD format. But these days, I watch more short comedy skits on YouTube and TikTok, and there's one comedian I always watch out for...
Sabinus!
The first Sabinus video I watched was the one above. I was scrolling through Twitter when I saw it and after watching that video, I immediately ran to YouTube to check out his other videos and I wasn't disappointed; it was a laughing galore 😂 I'm not proud to say (or maybe I am) that I have watched all sabinus comedy skits on his youtube channel. Yes! I have watched every single video there. These days I just wait patiently for him to drop a new one then I quickly rush to watch it, just like today's own

I love Sabinus for one thing: he doesn't have a style and he is unpredictable. One thing that got me tired of other comedians is that they usually have a style they follow. For someone like Mr macaroni, a lot of his skits are of him lusting after curvy women (freaky freaky) and giving them a lot of money. I enjoyed it for a while but it soon became boring. But you see Sabinus? Yesterday he was a DJ, today he is a teacher, tomorrow he will be a driver, next week he is a politician, just very versatile
Sabinus does comedy effortlessly, a lot of time I just look at him and I start laughing because everything about him is funny. From his facial expressions to the way he talks to even his height, the dude is the epitome of comedy! A lot of memes have been created from his videos and I even have a lot of them as WhatsApp stickers. It's no wonder he won the best content creator in Africa award at the Rwanda International Movie Awards, 2023.
Another comedian I have started following sparingly these days is "Isbae U". I came across one of his videos on YouTube and after watching it, I loved it and I also searched for similar ones. Although a lot of his video involves the Yoruba language which I don't understand, I still find them funny and it's probably because of the way he speaks, especially when he is trying to act like a street boy just like the video below.
I have gotten tired of other comedians like Sydney Talker, Gentu, Broda Shaggi, Lasisi, and others although I still watch their comedy skits whenever I come across them, I no longer actively go searching for their videos because I have watched a lot of them and many of them are similar. So for now, it's only Sabinus I actively follow and I don't think there are any of his comedy skit videos I haven't watched, I have even seen the one he released today.
