It has been more than a week now since we celebrated the new year and most of us have gone back to our usual daily activities and for me, that means school. I had just roughly around one week to enjoy the Christmas/new year break because I finished my exams on the 23rd of December and had to go back to school on the 4th of January to prepare for my oral exams.
I actually wished the break would go on and on but not because I hate the idea of going back to school just a few days after new year's day but because I needed a lot of time to gather enough money that will be enough to see me through my final year in the university. Nonetheless, I still had to resume early because of the oral exam which was held on the 6th of this month.
It would have been cool if we all don't have to worry about school or work, right? Maybe we can just get everything we need from life while just chilling at home but wouldn't that make life boring? Some of us actually get some satisfaction from the job we do but that only applies to people who are doing what they love. Do I love the course I'm studying in school? Not really, I just found myself there 😆 those in Nigeria will understand what I mean.
School has been very stressful since we resumed. After the oral exam, we all picked project supervisors, and even though I didn't end up with the supervisor I wanted, I still thank God for the one I got. My university officially resumed academic activities this week Monday and my classes started on Tuesday, and we have been having classes since every day, coupled with assignments and project research.
To a new person, it might look very stressful (it actually is) but I have gotten used to it. The one thing I'm consoling myself with is that this is the last year I will be spending at this university and before the end of the year, I should be done and successfully graduate. The only problem is my final year project which will cost a lot of money and is also the main reason why I wished the holiday would have gone on and on.
A few days ago, I was discussing my project topic with some of my classmates and I jokingly told them that I wished the universities in my country will embark on another strike (they did something similar last year which lasted for about 9 months) and give us enough time to gather funds for our projects and some of them actually agreed with me, which showed that they were also worried about the financial aspect of our projects.
So far, we have been having one to two classes daily which shouldn't be stressful as it is but as I said earlier, we have also been having assignments which I find to be very frustrating because it takes up a lot of my time and uses a major part of my evening/night. The only fun thing in the university is the interactions I have with my friends, even the internet connection over here is very bad, and don't even get me started with the power supply which is also quite bad.
