Learning a new language is always on top of my to-do list. I prioritize it as I include it in my new year's resolutions. To actualize this, I have to do more learning than wishing. Wishing does not get anything done. The amount of time and input channeled towards learning gets the job done.
So with that out of the way, English is the official language of my country Nigeria, and I believe it is the most used language. However, I have always wanted to learn French. As a kid, My mum and dad speak french whenever they want to discuss something important and do not want us to listen. I have always enjoyed listening to their voices whenever they converse in this language.
As I grow older, many of my friends speak this language while I am still handicapped in it. This is, however, not the key reason why I want to learn the french language so badly. The Major reason I want to learn french is that I once lost a job I was bidding for due to my inability to speak and understand french.
Learning and mastering french won't just be me being Bilingual. It means expanding my scope to better job opportunities. My job scope has become more expansive, and I will stand tall among applicants in some job postings just by having an understanding of french and English at go.
Learning French also boosts my profile while considering traveling or immigrating to french speaking countries. Settling in will be seamless as I am already familiar with their language, and I will hold a proper conversation. This also, as I said, makes it easy to get a job in a new country.
Some countries even give more consideration to people that speak English and French. Canada is one such country, so it places me in their excellent books case I decide to move power there.
