Human rights are a fundamental right of all people, I believe everyone should be able to make use of their human rights, although, in my country, human rights are mostly trampled on. The government or the people in general doesn’t value human rights, some people doesn’t even know their human right, unlike other country where human rights are fairly respected.
There are various types of human rights, ranging from the right to life, the right to a fair hearing, the right to freedom of religion, the right to freedom of personal liberty, etc. All these rights are important in their own way, we most likely need all rights to live a fair and balanced life.
It would be a tough choice for me to choose between these rights, choosing between two rights like freedom of speech or right to privacy, which means choosing one to do away with one
Personally, both rights complement my personality, I am the type of person who loves to speak out, I’m very outspoken but not to the sense that I don’t bridle my tongue, I love to say No when I am not comfortable, I hate to keep things on my mind, it makes me so uncomfortable.
Sometimes, being outspoken puts one in trouble, imagine giving a negative comment on an influential person, and you can even be charged in court. This made me remember a man who gave a negative comment or review on a product and they threatened to sue him for something that is right. Lol. Obviously, the product was rubbish everyone that had used it complained but not to the extent of making their voice heard but this man spoke out, only to be threatened.
I feel the freedom of speech is only useful when your voice is heard and action is taken but not in a situation whereby you speak up but only to get punished. My dad always says “Watch what you say, because it can ruin you.” Your words are very important and are irrevocable.
Also, I am the type of person who hates people prying into my personal life, it gives me some kinds of irritation. I love a calm and peaceful life, when people start looking into your matter or personal life, it is hard to maintain a peaceful life.
I am someone that is quite secretive, I am not easily open, especially to people that I know nothing about or people that are new to me, people have different opinions and thoughts towards you, some are looking forward for your growth in a positive way but some are waiting for your downfall. So, I just can’t open the door for them to pry into my personal life.
I so much love a private life, I can’t imagine an open relationship, I mean I love to have a private love life. The right to private life guarantees you a safe space, where you wouldn’t have to worry and worry about people’s opinions.
In a nutshell, In a country like mine, freedom of speech is just another way of requesting punishment or threats of and unsafe life while right to privacy gives you a safe life and comfortable one. So, I would most likely go for the right to privacy, I’ll probably give Freedom of speech a second thought when my country or any country doesn’t threaten you because you voiced out.
