My name is Lucky Ugo A.K.A luckydrums. I am a student and also a teacher, a children teacher precisely. Although I do teach older people too, I tend to have more liking for the little ones. This is because they're more flexible, more teachable, very sharp, humble, loyal and most importantly they're adorable.
I consider teaching children an act of nation building and a contribution to the betterment of humanity.,Like we all know and say, "children are the leaders of tomorrow" so if you invest in the development of the children, you also invest in the development of the future.
A lot of the problems that most society face today are as a result of not paying attention to the children. These issues stem from the fact that these youths terrorising and causing mayhem in the state were not properly and adequately educated, and because of the facts that they lact the ability to reason rationally and they lack the skills to thrive in the society, they resort to criminality and all sorts of social vices.
Like the philosophers have said, human minds at child birth or infant stage are like a plain slate (" tabula Raza") without any form of innate knowledge. What humans display or how they act are as a result of what they take in ( ie the kind of information or knowledge they have acquired), this is why we say that we are a product of what we see and hear because those are the inlets to which information comes to our minds
This above explanation forms the main reason why I chose to teach children.
Because I know how the mind works and I understand that we give out what we take in, I am more interested in teaching the younger ones who not only are the future of tomorrow but still have a clean and open heart.
I always make sure to do my best to pass the right information to them. A lot of people even teachers are oblivious of the gravity of the task and responsibility they are saddled with. They do not know that they have the power to change the future, that the future are in their hands to mould as they wish and for the reason I do not trust a lot of them.
However, I try my best whenever I am privileged to teach children, to make sure I teach them to a level where every child comprehends and is happy. Childhood is really a critical stage in the lives of humans and a little negligence and mistake could affect them their entire lives.
Although I can and have effectively thought different subjects and different ages of children, I had never thought of teaching as a career. For me it's like a hobby or a pass time, but if I was made to take teaching as a career and pick a particular area or subject to focus on, I think I would pick Mathematics.
Yes , I would prefer to be a mathematics teacher and Here are my reasons ;
Mathematics is my forte;
I am currently studying to be a civil engineer and mathematics happens to be one of the cores of engineering. Because of this fact, I have had to study and master different mathematical approaches and systems, and this has greatly improved my proficiency in the area of maths. Teaching maths is and would be so easy for me and that way I would pass the knowledge across seamlessly.
Mathematics Overtime has become a Nightmare to many kids.
This is another reason why I would choose to be a maths teacher. I really want to change this narrative of maths being a very difficult subject when infact it's the easiest.
This narrative has limited and thwarted the future of many kids and by being a Mathematics teacher, I would have the opportunity to change this narrative.
A lot of people struggle and fail maths in secondary schools and at A-level too, a lot of the times they don't even try to learn it. This is because they have been told that maths is really hard. This notion often starts from childhood. It is mostly as a result of children not been handled by competent teachers but are rather left in the hands of half-baked, mediocre teachers who themselves do not know maths well enough.
These teachers perpetrate and propagate this evil notion which sinks down into the children and causes them to detest mathematics forever.
I would love to be a Mathematics teacher so I can try as much as I can to stop this narrative.
LUCRATIVENESS
I would choose to teach Maths because it is lucrative as mathematics teachers are highly sought after.
Because of how dreaded this subject is and because of how a lot of people fail it, parents are schools are willing to pay good amount of money to have you teach their kids mathematics. Once you have proven to be competent, you would be so much valued.
RESPECT
Lastly, Maths teachers are very much respected. They're respected in their neighborhood and wherever they find themselves. They're respected by kids, parents and even by other subject teachers. They are seen as really intelligent people.
This is why I choose Maths. So what subject teacher would you like to be. I would really like to hear from you too.
Thanks alot for stopping by, I really appreciate it.
