Hello Wonderful People of Hive,
This is from Karachi, Pakistan.
Today, let’s talk about mental and physical health. Now, are they really separate? Honestly, I’ve never been able to understand that. To me, they’re directly proportional. A healthy mind drives a healthy body, and vice versa.
I don’t have exact statistics with me, nor am I going to cite any study or survey. I’ll simply talk based on people I’ve met, observed around me, seen on social media, on TV, or in offices. From what I’ve noticed, an average successful person doesn’t just have a sharp and healthy mind, but also a healthy body. Corporate businessmen, bankers, armed forces personnel, pilots, and most people who’ve thrived in their careers usually appear to be in good shape. The reason could be their proper routine, balanced diet, sleep schedule, or just discipline in general. Naturally, when the body is fit, the mind stays fit too, and again, vice versa.
Of course, there are exceptions. Some highly successful businessmen, old money elites, bureaucrats, and politicians don’t always look very fit. But those are rare cases, and even among them, a large percentage don’t really have a healthy mindset either. As I mentioned at the start, from my experience, both things are closely connected.
Now, a healthy body can be seen and judged easily. But how do we recognize a healthy mind? Seems tough? Well, not really. It becomes quite clear from how a person talks and how they treat others. Of course, we’re not aiming for 100% accurate judgments, it’s just about forming an impression, and that’s enough.
Usually, we tend to measure someone’s physical and mental health with their wealth. But the truth is, you don’t necessarily need a lot of money to have a healthy mind and body. What you really need is peace in life, and yes, success plays a part in it. But then, how do we define success? Just money? Not at all. Many wealthy people suffer from complex illnesses. Doesn’t that prove our measurement is flawed?
These days, even though technology is at its peak, I feel the overall health ratio is going down. When I look at my parents’ generation, their bodies still seem to have more tolerance for illnesses compared to ours. They also don’t deal with as much anxiety as we do. So, is this because of lack of money? Lack of resources? Or something else? I think the real difference is that we are far more distracted in this social age, whereas they lived with peaceful minds despite having fewer resources. Most of them don't have weak eye sights 😎, stomach problems, headache and fatigue issues. That’s why, in my view, the true measure of success is peace of mind, and that’s the most essential ingredient for both a healthy body and a healthy mind.
