When we say human rights, we mean the right of the people in the world and as we all know everyone has the right to liberty, freedom of speech, and the right to work and education. so everyone has equal rights regardless of their race, sex, nationality, religion, ethnicity or any other status.
Despite that it’s said that we humans have certain rights over some things like the right of freedom of movement, speech etc. our rights still get trampled on by people that are in high places than us and those rights get trampled on either by the government or people in authorities like college provost and lecturers and the worst part of it this so-called person that is in the position to upheld human rights are the ones that trample on it most times.
Flashback to the incident that happen in Nigerian in early October 2020 during people protests against SARS(special Anti-robbery squad) because most of them were abusing their power and trampling on the human right a video was displayed online when a SARS officer was shooting a man in the delta before driving off in his car but they deny the incident.
So the people have no choice but to begin the endsars movement/protests but unfortunately, it ended with police brutality and violence that the movement was meant to fight against. A lot of humans died during these protests and I sure know it’s a time that no one in Nigeria can forget about because it was a sad day for everyone especially those whose families fall victim to those killed.

Though I didn’t witness the scene viewing a lot of people's statuses and seeing news about it on all social media platforms the killing of people by policemen who are supposed to protect them is a shock to me and I felt unhappy about the whole situation.
Those people where not killed by robbers or hire killers but they were shot and died by people that are meant to protect the country and the people in it from that day it dawns on me that there is no security in Nigerian my country and it’s only God that is keeping every one of us safe.
Though in the end SARS was disbanded but will that buy back the lives of the people that were shot and died during the protests? It can’t, and none of these killings will have happened if the government has heeded the voice of the people quickly when there was a protest against SARS but too bad lot of lives were lost before the government took the necessary action and the worst thing of it all those people family that died during the protests were compensated with money as if the value of money is equal to the life of the people that died and I know they compensate their families not because they want to but because the citizens demand for it.
Too bad a lot of people's rights are being trampled upon by people that are supposed to uphold them.
Thanks for reading to the end.
