In the world today, the rate at which people commit crime is now alarming, the evils in the heart of human beings can't be comprehended at all, I wonder if some people still have an iota of conscience in them. To make the matter worst, committing crimes nowadays isn't based on gender or age, both male and female either young or old are now involve in various act of atrocities.
I found it very difficult to understand why someone will kill or cause a fellow human being pains all because they want to make money for their survival, some goes to the extent of endangering the life of their spouses, family members likewise neighbours, while some indulge in their vicious act all because of jealousy, anger or retaliation. Thinking about all these various evil practices always burdens my heart.
I've witnessed lots of crime scenes in my neighborhood while growing up, I live close to a state owned polytechnic, so there are lots of students that rented apartments in my area. Lots of young guys then went as far as joining cults and various bad gangs all in the name of proving that they are big boys and some joined because they want other students to fear them whenever they were on or off campus. I don't think a week will pass without Police raiding my area cause there will be a fight between different factions of cultist, we also constantly experience robbery, shop lifting and various forms of crimes.
The most shocking evil deed that I can't forget easily happened in year 2016.
The building next to my compound was a six rooms and parlour apartment which was built as a twin column apartment in which two tenants share same corridor, kitchen, bathroom and toilet. A particular twin column was shared by a nurse & hair stylist and they both lived with their respective families (husbands and children).
A particular day there was a fight between the nurse and the hair stylist on how the hair stylist children do litter the kitchen and also about their non chalant attitude towards their bin. This complain didn't go well with the hair stylist, she said the nurse can't boss her and her children around the house and that she can do whatever she likes with her bin.
They fought over the issue, their co-tenants separated them and they later invited the house care taker to settle the issue. The man blamed the hair stylist because she and her children haven't been participating in the compound cleaning ever since she had moved into the apartment and he said any other mistake from her will lead to her eviction. The woman later apologized and everyone continue with their lives not knowing that this hair stylist has an evil plan.
Exactly 3 months after the issue, the nurse was on her annual leave from work. So a faithful afternoon when everyone in the compound had gone to work, she was in the kitchen preparing a swallow yam flour (called Amala in Nigeria), this food requires her to sit so as to mould it very well. In the process of moulding the food while sitting, the hair stylist purposely boiled water and deliberately poured it on her, she then ran out of the compound. The victim screamed for help, luckily myself and some students are around in the neighborhood, we rush to the house lo and behold this nurse was badly injured, we rushed her to the hospital. The nurse was in agony for complete a week, she survived it but was badly burnt.
After two weeks the hair stylist was apprehended by the police and when she was interrogated, she said she doesn't want to kill the nurse but just to disfigured her so as to teach her a lesson. Her husband was shocked and couldn't believe he married a monster.
The criminal was charged to court and was convicted for attempted murder. She was sentenced to 4 years imprisonment without bail consideration likewise the family was ordered to pay for the nurse full hospital bills.
Imagine a scenerio like this, if I wasn't among those that rescued the victim I wouldn't have believed. It baffles me how a human being will indulge in such kind of an evil act
Like I've said earlier, the evils in the heart of human beings can't be comprehended at all it's only the Divine that can save us from evil perpetrators that we are not aware of.
