The Teaching and Health sector had been taken with levity for years in my country Nigeria and up till now no much improvement in the two sectors. I believe lots of people have forgotten that teachers are builders, their works and impart can't be over emphasized likewise the Doctors.
I knew some parents that can't withstand the presence of their kids if they have just a day holiday hmmmm they complain here and there that the kids are disturbing them and that they need a part time class to keep them till evening, let alone talking about weekends or long vacations.
Now someone else's took the courage to be trained in the teaching profession and the fellow have at least 20 pupils in a class to control and the person manages them well without complaints, wowww don't you think such a fellow deserves lots of accolades for a job well done. On the long run, the reverse is the case in my country, teachers aren't value, they are treated as beggars. And they struggle for almost everything they needed for their survival. The Doctors also aren't left out in the maltreatment.
A medical students spent good 7 years in school to be trained and when the fellow graduated after those years in school then the government starts paying the fellow rubbish salary. Majority of our government owned hospitals lacks basic equipments which makes private hospitals charged patients exorbitantly.
This maltreatment lead to the reasons why trained doctors are traveling out of the country for greener pasture in the foreign nations. Well, I can't blame them, if am in a place and they don't value me then I must be a fool for forcing myself on them without looking for a better place.
But when we talk of Celebrities which people now call "Yeyebrities" (cause of their extravagant lifestyles), the amount governments and companies splashes on them cause they are famous is huge. This huge amounts can pay the salaries of numerous Teachers and Doctors till retirement, it's very bad and should be corrected.
Celebrities bagged endorsements from companies, they are appointed as Special Advisers to governors and also chosen as ambassadors while Teachers and Doctors are left out of almost everything, why can't they also be endorsed and also appointed as ambassadors? Hell NO, They are treated like fugitives, they aren't promoted when due, owed salaries and aren't supplied necessary equipment while strikes becomes the order of the day for them.
I've never seen a Teacher or Doctor that can brag that he or she was able to build a house or buy car conveniently from his or her salary after working for few months....that's a big LIE, well maybe that might happen next life!....Someone that can have such kind of achievement in my country would either have a supportive partner, another paying side hustle or have supportive relatives abroad. Majority of them lives on loan to support their families but here we have celebrities flaunting cars and mansions worth billions of naira on social medias.
It's unfair, we really need to get it right and turn a new leaf by appreciating those that are helping to build the nation positively. Although not all celebrities are bad, I so much admire athletes, but what I'm emphasizing on is the fact that Teachers and Doctors should be treated well, let them earn well and not live their lives in regret of choosing these great professions.
