Equality is the state of been equal, having same value and also been treated in an equal way irrespective of ones social or cultural differences. There are so many ways one can examine the equalness of humans be it from our births, mental or physical abilities, family backgrounds and so on.
Based on the definition and with all the considerations, you will surely understand that humans aren't created equally. When you consider people that are birthed from the same womb, like siblings or even twins, you discover that their growth and developmental stages are quite different.
I vividly remember on my 20th birthday when Mom was speaking on her experiences in child bearing, and she made mentioned of her children's growing stages. I discovered that out of her four children, I was the only one that took my first step in 11months, she said she had in mind that she will cancel my 1st birthday if I didn't walk before then because my other siblings walked less than 10months.
So imagine this type of scenerio where siblings has differences that is, something that differentiated them from one another, so how do we explain that all humans are equally created?
A situation happened in my country sometimes ago whereby a northern student spoke against the first lady of my country
the guy said the first lady is growing bigger in size, that's all
The next thing the guy was arrested by the state DSS and detained for blasphemy. If not for the power of social media when people started dragging the first lady and the country's security agency the guy would have rotten in security custody. Please tell me where is the equality? Why can't we practice our freedom of speech?
The society we live in isn't an advocate for equality cause the fundamental human rights has been trampled on. There is preferential treatment for the wealthy while the average and poor aren't considered as anything.
The rate at which the corrupt Nigerian politician embezzle billions of naira daily is alarming and they are neither charged for the crimes committed nor questioned on the embezzlement because they are influencial. But an average citizen can suffer crimes they are innocent of or even be charged to court for boldly asking for their right from the government.
So equality before the law or before ourselves is like a mirage to me, cause with all that's happening nowadays tells us that we live in a World of Inequality.
The only solution to make the people of the world more equal is to love one another wholeheartedly, this can stop all forms of racism that is killing the world. Racists are everywhere even within a family, you will see a person or group of people that believes certain groups are superior to others, which should not be. Where love exist, equality lives there.
So we have lot of work to do in this aspect, let's wake up and love one another forsaking our qualifications, race, gender, religion, skin color. Let's live and do everything in love so as to restore serenity back to the society, with this we can experience Equality.
The question is can we love ourselves genuinely so as to experience this Mirage called Equality?
