I found happiness when I saw this particular topic. It's shocking when someone told you that what they like to do is contact sports, especially some dangerous ones among them, boxing, karate, taekwondo, and judo. And the likes. I practice two of these sports, and I know the danger in it.
Well, if you ask someone why they love to choose contact sports, then they will tell you the story behind it. I've seen people die in contact sports, especially this ring fight we used to watch; it's a mixture of all kinds of martial arts. Contact sports can also make someone deformed in a bad way.
I meant talking about the negative part of it: if it happens to someone you know, you will definitely be discouraged, and you will not want to do it.
But then the love that you have for what you love to do will always make you want to do more. I learned boxing for six months, and it happens to be a tough one. Moreover, I've been doing taekwondo for a very long time now.
Now the question is whether it is necessary to regulate the contact sports to make them safer or not. Well, to me, I will say that it's not necessary to regulate it at all. Why did I say that? Apart from football, which is also a contact sport and can be so dangerous most times. We have some contact sports that are very dangerous when playing them, and those are boxing, taekwondo, and the like. All these martial arts contact sports have their rules and regulations. It is categorized into two; for instance, if you are doing taekwondo as a sport, it's different if you are doing it as a reality. Although it's all into each other.
In fact, I will say that most of all these sports have already been regulated. Why did I say that? I could remember some years back whenever we were going for taekwondo training or competitions. We do train just like we are going to war.
We trained, and we won't be able to stand up again after training. And if you watch the competitions, you will realize that it's more like war; before we hardly used guards to fight. All we use is our body to collect any kind of kicks or even punches. But now a lot has changed. You will hardly see people train like that again; in fact, we now use technology to fight. To me, it looks like playing, unlike before, when you needed to unleash all your powers. Right now you just have to touch to read because we are now in a digital world.
Although I'm not sure it's in all sports like that, I'm still sure of taekwondo and karate regulations.
My point is that any sport that is martial arts is designed to be rigorous and extreme. That is why we are different from other people. Regulating it will not bring the beauty in the sports. I believe what will happen to someone will happen; either you do contact sports or you do not.
