Talking about school curriculum and learning, there are lots of things that need to be removed and lots of things that need to be added. Sometimes we do forget that we are in the era of technology, where a lot of things have changed so far.
That is how you will see a lecturer using old textbooks to teach and will not even bother moving with the present situation. A lot is already outdated. And it needs to be looked into. When I was in school, I found some courses so annoying. I could remember studying economics, and then French is a core course for me to study too; meanwhile, if I don't pass, I will not graduate. If possible, we can just face what we went to school to study; it would have been so good.
Just one student studying twenty courses in a semester? I mean, isn't that crazy? The school is not really teaching what we actually need, but we are being taught what we don't need at all.Imagine choosing sports as a core course, but all you are doing is just theory. I was so shocked when we were being taught how to swim in class without going to the pool. Funny, right? That's how bad it is.Now the question is, should social media be taught in school?I believe education should be dynamic in nature but is not. Since we all know the benefits of social media and so on.
I believe social media should not just be added to the school curriculum alone but be a core course and be part of what we need to be studying in school and higher education.I will say that social media is one thing people are using to make money now. More especially the youth of nowadays; without social media, the world would be in a poor position.Let me give you an instance of what I'm talking about. I was watching a TikToker interview one time like that, and he was asked how much he used to make on a daily basis on live on TikTok. He said he used to make two thousand dollars on a live show depending on how well he grinds.
In a week he used to make at least 20 million naira.This simply means that social media is a way to survive, and of course, why are we going to school? Is it not to survive? Most of our parents want us to finish education and start providing, but education will never make you rich, and they will never teach you what will make you rich in school.I believe they should start what will make us get literate and also make us rich in school.
Too much nonsense is being taught in school.Courses like cyber security are being taught but should be put more effort on in school; how to build a web, not just the stupid theory, but the real practical should be taught in school. Digital marketing should be taught in school; email marketing and any kind of good social media courses should be added to the school curriculum.
