Punishment is very important, especially for children at a young age. There are several ways in which one can punish a child that I know of.
Firstly, I do not believe in too much harshness on children; this will make them fear you and not be your friend. Some use canes on their children, some use food to punish them, and so on. Why is punishment so important? It makes the children well-disciplined; believe me, when there isn't punishment, the children will hardly even listen to you.
I could remember as a child, my parents used to be at me just little times; in fact, I could count how many times I've been beaten if possible. My parents like to talk to us in some ways that will make you feel so terrible, and that talk alone goes a long way as a punishment for us. They use a cane when it is necessary for me, and honestly, I feared my parents to some point, but not to the point I will not be able to tell them what is happening today. My parents happen to be my best friends.
Also back then in primary and secondary school, the only way of punishment that we know is the cane, and I must say that we all survived this, and we know the right from wrong, especially the math teacher and the French teacher.
This era there is no punishment again, which I totally disagree with; parents have gone a long way to not discipline their children, and this makes the children act so rudely in society. You will see 10-year-old students or even 13-year-olds calling their teachers names and all sorts of things since no one will deal with them. This makes the school settings to be falling and having rude students everywhere.
Well, I understand the fact that cane should not be used in a school setting again, but then what about punishment? Imagine a student stoning a teacher, and the school management could not do anything about it.
My children are going old ways, just like the way I was brought up. Till this moment, I'm always scared to look at someone's face, regardless of their age. This was because back then there was so much respect in the society. In fact, I could remember that another person's parents would deal with you so badly if you were doing something wrong.
The society back then trained their children so well, and there was a lot of discipline in the society. Even if you see someone who is doing something bad, he or she will not do it in the presence of the elderly people.
Just because nowadays parents refuse to use punishment or a cane on their children, we now have rude students everywhere.
Me as a parent, I'm definitely not going for the Gen Z styles; my children must be so disciplined, and if they need to be punished, they will. I will hardly beat them, but if need be, then I will let them taste it. Well, I'm more like a paramilitary man; how exactly did you expect my children to be.
