As a son of a middle-class family, I have never uttered this sentence in my life—“Father, I love you.” To be honest, I have not said it, rather I have not dared to utter these small words. Despite this deep love for my father, I have not developed the courage or habit to express it directly.
I have seen my father as a true fighter in life. Since childhood, I have noticed that he has been giving all his strength selflessly to keep our family happy. Working day and night, without thinking about his own interests for a moment, he has been working for us. I have grown up in his shadow, and I am slowly building my life by following his path.
Father is a unique role model in my life. His labor, his dedication have taught me how to fight and win life, how to forget the petty interests of my own life and sacrifice myself for others. But until now, this love for him has only remained in my heart, it has never been transformed into words.
Today was a little different. A college girl from one of my offices came home from school and wished her father “Happy Father’s Day”. Seeing that small scene, my heart melted unknowingly. We had small conversations around us – how much courage it takes to express our love to our father. Many of us do not dare to say that small thing. Maybe it is the secret law of society, maybe it is the rush of emotions within ourselves – for some reason we cannot say that we love our father directly.
But today I understand that Father’s Day is not just a festival, it is an occasion from which our courage to express our love begins. It is an opportunity to open the doors of our hearts to our fathers. They are the foundation of our lives, our first teachers and the biggest supporters of life. It is our real duty to express our love, respect and gratitude to them.
Tell fathers today, tell them that you love them. Thank them for their hard work, respect their courageous spirit. Maybe those small words will illuminate their lives, and deepen your relationship.Finally, my respect and love to all fathers. You are the steady stream of our lives, our silent heroes.
