In life, we often hear the word learn something new with great importance, don't we? Since childhood we are told that we have to learn something new, gain experience, increase knowledge. To be honest people cannot progress without learning but with time, I have started to understand one thing that in life, not only learning, but also unlearning is equally important.
When we learn something new we actually give our all. New skills, new thoughts, new experiences make us more capable, but the problem is when we hold on to old ideas so tightly that there is no room for accepting anything new.
There are many situations in life when the habits we have been following for so long are no longer working for us. Maybe an old belief or a wrong idea is an obstacle to our progress, then if we cannot let go of it, then no matter how much new knowledge we acquire, real change will not come and is not possible.
Unlearning does not mean that everything before was wrong, but it means that when times change, our thinking will also have to change. The idea that helped us once can limit us at another time. So if you don't have the courage to let go of something old, it becomes difficult to accept something new. I personally think that a lot of big changes in life come when we realize that some of our old ideas are no longer useful. If we can let go of them at that moment, then an opportunity to learn new things is created. Life is actually an ongoing process. Here people are always learning and also forgetting a lot. And this will continue.
