It is a cliché or an overused phrase to say that we must take care of nature, of what we have been given to learn to live in this world.
Before humans conquered the world, nature, with all its living beings, already existed. We use its resources such as the air we breathe, the water we drink and the food we eat. In addition, nature provides shelter and habitat for a diversity of species, and contributes to the stability of ecosystems and the food chain.
When I buy anything, I do not ask for it to be delivered in plastic bags, I reuse the one I have, and if possible I use a cloth bag. With this procedure I help to avoid the pollution of the environment since innumerable amount of bags are discarded and burned in landfills.
I do not waste water since it is a finite resource, I wash clothes with a full load in the washing machine, I fix leaky faucets and I do not leave them open while I wash my hands or teeth.
Paper pollutes much less than plastic, but millions of trees are cut down to make it. In addition to producing oxygen, trees buffer rain. I help the planet by recycling paper, writing on used sheets of paper, and even printing work on them.
I save energy by turning off the lights in rooms where there is no one, I don't leave appliances on, not even on standby, I don't leave my cell phone charger plugged in, I don't waste energy that costs money to produce.
With my actions I preach the values I was taught at home such as respect towards other people, gratitude towards life for what it is giving me and towards others without the need for them to have done something for me.
At times I am generous with people in need, leaving behind selfishness and I have realized that not only the need lies in the material, but in the spiritual. Many times others will thank you for having been listened to, or for having received advice in time.
When I witness something that goes against the values and principles that were instilled in me by my family, I speak out, I do not remain silent and I try to stop the injustice without harming others. I only think that because of simple selfishness or because of some economic factor it is unfair that some people are affected in a negative way.
I show effort when I perform any task, this implies perseverance and discipline. The effort serves to achieve my goals. With this I hope to set an example to my family and friends.
Everything, as much as possible, I do it with love, which works as the engine that initiates giving and receiving, living together, sharing, respecting and trusting.
We must know how to appreciate nature and all that has been given to us as raw material to evolve and survive, at the same time we must preach the good values that we have acquired throughout our lives because if we do not do so every day we are heading towards a sure self-destruction.
Many thanks to the Hive Learners community for giving me the opportunity to share my ideas, and to read other publications that give me different ideas to mine. That is generating value. Greetings to all.
