Living on a budget is always advisable when you know that you do not have a secure means of generating income all the time.
In my early days of the university, I didn't live on a budget because I had many people sending in money to me anytime I wanted so it was easy to get the things I wanted when I wanted but as I grew older people started to feel like I should take up more responsibility and so they stop sending me money to be used to and I had to get a job.
I mean once in a while my parents to send me money but it really doesn't go a long way because they know I have a job and they just send money to remind me that they are thinking of me.
Before I started making my own money, I found it very hard to manage money because it came easy but as things got harder in the country, I had to learn to step up or I would go hungry and so I started learning from other people how they managed their money and see if I could fix that in my own lifestyle.
Most people say the only time you would know the value of money is when you start to make it on your own because then you would see how hard it is to make and so you'd want to make more effort to keep it. Most salaries come at the end of the month some at the middle. So this is what I do. I learnt from a book that 10% of what you make should be kept as savings so I did exactly just that, been keeping 10% of everything I make even if it's not just my salary.
Then I make a list of all essential things I would need during the month body cream or spray. 40% goes into buying food to keep in house and then I always keep an extra for miscellaneous things because problems tends to know when you are at peace and pop up.
Any opportunity I have to add to my savings I do but that hardly ever happens because there's always something new to do with your money.
It is good to always make plans for the unexpected. For example my laptop crashed about a week ago and I wasn't very prepared for it so it is still under repairs until I am able to complete the cash to fix the screen but at least I had a little to start with the repairs so it's still a little win.
In future I pray I don't have to live under a budget, honestly, why I'm working so hard now is so I can relax and get things when I want eat anything I can when I want and not be pushed around by little problems that arise from nowhere.
