When it comes to privacy, every individual on this earth has the right to privacy. If you ask me, I’d say privacy is the least thing you can give a person because it’s not something you should be told someone needs. Common sense should tell you that people need their privacy. Take a look at our parents for instance. They have been married for decades and have known each other for as long as we can remember, but in the midst of all this, they still respect each other’s boundaries and private space.
We all value our privacy to some extent and that is why even as parents, we are told to give our children space at some point in their lives. We shouldn’t be in their space all the time and if possible, it go through their stuff even though you mean well for them. The issue of privacy is a huge one but it’s sad that not many people get to have some privacy even in their own homes. When it comes to privacy and our government, I don’t think anyone of us has a hundred percent privacy because thanks to technology, the phone you’re using is probably being tapped as we speak and i can’t bet you that you wouldn’t even know it or find it in years.
Security is important and it’s the government’s duty to keep citizens safe at all times. I’d like to believe that there are people out there being secretly monitored by the government without their knowledge or permission. When it comes to security. I believe it’s your duty to protect yourself even before the government makes a move to protect you personally. To some extent, privacy is a concept we’ve just been made to believe all this while. When push comes to shove, you always have to make sure to go for what benefits you and in a situation where my life is at stake, I would most definitely go in for security over privacy because what the use of privacy if I’m dead?
The government hardly provides us with security all day, tapping our devices or even having 24/7 surveillance on citizens unless it’s a matter of life and death. In these situations as I’ve seen in movies, it’s very critical as lives are at stake and the government has to do everything to protect its people. I don’t know for others but personally, I wouldn’t say no to security just because I don’t want someone to read my whatsapp texts - there’s really nothing in there so it’s not really a big deal. For me, it has always and will always be security first no matter what. Things can get tricky at some point but the plan is to be smart . Don’t be controlled and make sure you are not being manipulated to the benefit of whoever.
