I’ve seen people from poor families grow up to roll with rich guys who help them level up to the highest standards and all this has to do with grooming, positioning and experience. Growing up, my parents weren’t rich but they had enough to keep us going. Both my parents were into business which was going very well and so money wasn’t a problem. I had everything I needed , but not everything I wanted and that was also a way to teach me that you don’t always get what you want as an individual and that’s just fine.
I didn’t know much about money until I got to primary school. My mom started giving me money which I didn’t have any use for but still wanted to hold unto it just in case. I always had my snack and everything catered for and so the extra money I had was always on me and that’s how I started saving up. The things I wanted were my target. If I saw something I wanted, I’d make sure to save all my money with my mom until I’m able to get it. And then I starts saving for something else after.
Soon enough, my dad started to give me some allowance. It wasn’t much, but it contributed a lot to my saving process. I’ve always been known to be someone who saves. If I want something, I’d save my entire life away just to get and I never back down. I’d like to believe kids today are on allowances because it’s not everything we need that we can ask our parents for. They’re busy trying to keep everything in check that we may not want to bother them about getting us the latest sneakers or clothing. Most parents may even try to keep up but honestly, it’s in human nature to miss some of these things which is totally okay.
To some extent, I believe giving your kids allowances helps them to be financially responsible. No matter how small it may be, give it to them and start training them on how to manage their finances. Charity they say begins at home. You don’t have to wait until they’re twenty before you start teaching them about money. It needs to start at an early age- make it a part of them even before they come into contact with huge sums of money because money is a necessary evil which can cause harm and do good also depending on how it is being used.
Our world is all about money today. You don’t want your kids to be in a position where they struggle with their finances. Teach them the strings now and watch them build a life of financial freedom.
