Artificial intelligence was created originally to make our complex tasks easier and faster, to save our time too, and to help increase productivity.
With an AI tool, a task that could have taken someone days to accomplish will only take some minutes, and you are done, facing another thing for the day. Is this not amazing?
There has been this fear that AI will take over our world and displace many jobbers. The truth is that so far, a lot of jobs are recording more success through the help of AI. More AI tools are also being created each day to make our work easier, simpler, and faster without consuming time. All these advancements every now and then are being done by humans, the creators of AI. So can AI actually be smarter than its creator or just faster?
Obviously, AI is only faster and never smarter. AI only processes given information with speed, while humans think deeper. Humans also provide the info that AI uses, but the speed at which AI processes and gives out information is almost looking magical, and that's why it looks like AI is smarter.
Come to think of it, if you look closely, you will agree with me that AI only processes and analyzes data created by humans; it never thinks, as humans do. It never feels but only calculates, nor does it experience life.
With my motherhood experiences so far, I could boldly tell how intelligence goes beyond dishing out answers, which AI does within a twinkling of an eye. The tool is too good at answering even without experience, and that's never smarter in any way. A lot of times, my kids ask deep questions beyond me replying to them with the answer, but they rather prefer to understand it deeply, possibly with experiences.
Sometimes, such a moment requires that I apply patience, wisdom, and even emotions, which no AI machine can do. AI tools never understand personal matters but can speedily give you tips on what to do. Who, then, is smarter, AI or humans? A lot of things in our homes, like resolving misunderstandings, handling our sick children, and adjusting in time of economic meltdown like it is currently, and other examples are obviously not what AI can just give you detail info that can flow. Most of these situations require some level of emotional intelligence, which no AI can do; they require wisdom and empathy as well, so you see, in many cases, humans always supersede the work of AI, and that's what makes us smarter than AI tools.
However, it won't rule out the fact that AI is very powerful and helpful but not smarter than humans. No AI tool can replace the human minds and experiences, and that's what makes us stronger.
This post is in response to the Hive Learners community prompt on the topic titled AI VS Humans.
