I wouldn't say that a particular country is perfect when it comes to spending, however, I know of some countries that have their citizens' best interests at heart when setting financial priorities.

Looking closely at my dear country, Nigeria, I have observed a lot of irrelevant spending on some aspects since I was 18 years old until now, in my early thirties. Most of the things we have gotten so far are empty promises of how different sectors will be revived, but yet, we are still rotating at a spot. These promises usually come at the time these politicians are seeking one position or another, but they kept failing Nigerians deliberately. Deliberately in the sense that my country is endowed with so many natural resources that can generate billions of naira to fix different sectors, thereby giving the citizens a good life, but our government officials are corrupt. They wouldn't do the right thing due to their egocentric nature. Until we have a reliable government, we will keep hoping and dreaming for a better Nigeria.
The kind of news we hear most often on TV about how money is being allocated for one thing or another has been terrible. If you hear of the amount spent on redesigning our naira recently, for example, you might faint if you don't wear a shock absorber within. LOL, it's all about embezzlement in my country, which neglects the important projects that will benefit the citizens.
Let's take a look at one thing our government should spend on but doesn't, and one other thing they shouldn't spend on but do...
Where will I even start? Which one should I mention and leave the other on the list of things our government should spend money on but doesn't? Is it the abandoned health sector that makes them always travel abroad in search of quality health treatment when the need arises because they can afford the cost? And leave the poor Nigerians to die of complicated health issues that cannot be handled here due to poor facilities? Or is it the educational sector that they don't give attention to, thereby frustrating our Nigerian youths in the university, whereas they send their children abroad to study? What of our abandoned oil refinery? We are a blessed country with enough crude oil, but we still export it to refine it and import it back at a high rate. The list is long, but let me focus on agriculture.
Our president made lots of restrictions on food supply from other countries but failed to revive our agricultural sector so that the country would have the capacity to produce its own food without depending on other countries. Can anyone do without food? Of course, no one can survive without food. This is a sector that our government should spend money on adequately. Equip our commercial farmers with modern agricultural equipment and empower as many farmers as possible to meet up with the demand of the people. The cost of food alone is alarming. There is hunger in the country; lots of people are begging for food in the streets. This food is too costly for many families to afford. Why can't our government spend money on this sector? I was chatting in the Neoxiancity discord server the other time with , and she mentioned that food is not a problem in her country, India. Honestly, I felt like many Nigerians should just relocate there to have enough food at least, if they can't meet up with other necessities as humans, just a weird thought ðŸ’.
One crazy aspect our government shouldn't spend much on but does is the huge millions they load on our ministers. Oh my goodness! The day I heard of these people's salary per month, I nearly fainted! These are the people who don't do much, but they literally sit on our money, the money that is supposed to be used to revive important sectors in the country. Aside from their millions of naira salary monthly, they receive allowances on virtually everything one can think of: shoes, clothes, the yearly changing of their cars, toiletries, even stockings. lolz..it's just crazy. They should just cut the politician's allowance and make it unattractive for state capture mongers.
In conclusion, my country has all it takes to be a great nation, but we need help finding good leaders who will set good financial priorities for the benefit of all its citizens.
