Amazing Friday to every member of this community. Welcome to my blog once again. It's the weekend, yah!!💃, I do hope you will have a relaxing weekend.
So going through the Hive learners announcement channel this morning in discord, I saw a post on world bee day, and then we were challenged to write about it.
Honestly speaking, today is my first day hearing about world bee day, I never knew bees are recognized to this extent by celebrating a day like this. I was curious to know much about this day and what it's all about, so I rush straight to #Google.
My Research and findings...
Today I learned from google that every 20th of May has been marked out by the united nations (UN) to celebrate the world bee day and the year 2018 was the first time this day was observed.
When I was a child, I still vividly remember that my Dad owned a #Beehive where he harvest a good quantity of honey for the family use and the rest for business. As much as humans like honey made by bees, they see still it as a threat to their lives and have it killed at any slighted opportunity.
Before today, I only see honey as the only important of bees but with my further research on #Google, I found out the following :
- Bee plays a major role in maintaining a balance between humans, plants, animals, and the environment.
- Without bees, food would be scarce, and a vast portion of the population would perish in starvation. This is because bees increase agricultural production around the world by pollinating.
As a result of this, would bee day is celebrated to raise awareness about the threats faced by bees as a result of human activity and acknowledge the significance of bees in our biodiversity.
So friends, have you seen another good side of bees? Is bee your friends now or a threat,🤣? Kill it no more.!!!
I stand to be corrected for anything about this post.
Thanks for reading.
