We humans can literally complain a lot about many things we feel are not aligning to how we expected them to align. We are always too quick to talk about how life is very hard, how the business is not flourishing, how others are making it and you are not.
It's all about what we haven't achieved but talk less of how much God has helped us in many ways. The manner in which we overlook gratitude is questionable, but it is what it is; humans will always be human.
So let's assume that a gun was placed on my head and I was told to list the things I am most grateful for right now in my life; what would it be?
The most thing I am grateful for right now is that I am a complete human without any developmental defects. Sounds funny? Maybe to some persons, but then, my visit to the cerebral palsy center last week opened my eyes to the need to remain grateful to God for creating me perfectly just the way I am.
Imagine these little children in their thirties.
Can you believe that? 30 years on earth, and yet looking like a child of 4 years old. They have never walked in their lives; they don't stand or sit on a normal chair. They can't eat on their own, nor bath, nor poo and pee in their own , but have remained in diapers since they were born. What manner of life is this? They don't even know what life is all about; they are just living for living's sake, waiting for the day they will die. It's sad for real.
Tell me why I shouldn't be grateful to God for creating me perfectly without such issues. I am sure, if those kinds of children were asked to choose between being poor or remain like that and be cared for, they would choose to be whole and remain poor for life. On this note, permit me to express my gratitude to God for creating me just amazingly. I am most grateful for that.
I am also super grateful because I don't have to beg to eat. It's something worth expressing gratitude for, having seen what humans pass through just to survive. I don't have it all, but being able to feed daily without begging is a lot of blessings. For some people who aren't privileged in that way, they suffer a lot emotionally just to live, so I count myself lucky for having what it takes to provide the basic needs of my family without being at the mercy of, any human.
There are a lot of things to be grateful for, and I trust myself to download it all without mixing words if a gun were placed on my head. I don't even need to think deep because God's blessings are all over.
Overall, this post is majorly to remind us that cultivating a heart of gratitude is something to embrace. Even in our ups and downs, there are many things to be grateful for. Regardless of how the rest of my life turns out, I'll be happy for the life I am living and that I don't have any developmental defects.
