People tell lies for different reasons. Some people are becoming so creative in this twenty-first century in presenting lies 🤔. Lies to get accepted in a firm lie to avoid punishment, lies out of fear, lie to be successful, and so on. No matter the type of lies whether white lie or severe lies, the effects, in the end, is never positive.

I am not exempted either, I am only a human being who is striving to live uprightly but sometimes, I still find myself telling lies just to cover up🤦. God help me!!! However, since I became a parent, I have become more conscious of my speech and general behavior because of those around me including my kids who pick every single action they observe so easily.
At home I try to monitor and teach them the implications of lies, I also try to build in them the habit of "not to lie". This is because, firstly God frowns at it, and secondly, to maintain a lie, you have to keep lying after a lie and it can create an adverse effect on the subject.
Attending to this edition topic about LIES, I will quickly share with you the moment I told the truth and the subsequent effect made me wish I had lied instead🤦.
It happened during the lockdown down two years ago due to COVID-19. I was still working as an Admin Assistant/ secretary in one private firm very close to my estate here in Lagos state Nigeria. My boss had instructed that all the staff should stay at home until the lockdown is lifted. He also promised us a salary at the end of the month since it wasn't our fault not to report to the office. I was super excited about staying at home that period, bonding more with my family with an expectation that my salary will show at the end of the month 😂. One faithful morning, my boss called me over the phone and instructed me that I should be visiting the office often since I live very close to be sure that everything is intact. He was so afraid that robbers might invade and make away with our office gadgets!
I only visited the office once and didn't continue within the month, the security doors are strong enough to prevent the hoodlums from invading the office and besides, the estate has official security men who patrol the whole estate both day and night and so I concluded that there is no point wasting my precious time in check of how the office was doing during the period. I wish I knew that my decision would cost me my awaited salary🤔
It was on the 25th of that month and my boss was set to pay the salary to all the staff. He called to find out how far the office was and if I did exactly what he instructed. At this point, I was confused, I wasn't expecting that question from him, he took me unaware 😂. Well, I told him the truth, I told him that I only visited the office once and explained to him the reasons why I stopped. Phew! Boss immediately concluded that I am exempted from the salary that month for not adhering completely to his instructions 🥲.
What a pity, at this point, sincerely speaking I wished I had told lies instead. I had waited for that salary, I had drafted what I will do with the money 🤑💰 only for my Truth to put me in tears but it's fine.
Do you think, I should have lied or I did the right thing by saying the truth? Please feel free to share your view on this subject.
