SUCCESS STORY - A TRUE-LIFE STORY OF MY UNCLE, KEN
Ken after finishing high school decided to learn business since there was no money for him to further his education at the University. His father died just when he was a year old and her mother was a petty trader who earns an insufficient amount of money to cater to the basic family needs and education at that point.
There was this wealthy businessman who deals in motor parts, Ken approached him indicating his interest to learn his line of business. The man accepted and received him as an apprentice with an agreement that Ken will serve him and learn the business at the same time for 6years, after which he will settle him with a shop and #800,000.
The agreement was signed by his boss and Ken's uncle. Ken was so much excited, that he couldn't contain his joy at hearing such an offer. The next morning, Ken prepared, packed all his belonging, and traveled to the city for his apprenticeship. He arrived safely and started the journey of his apprenticeship the next morning. Ken is so humble to the core, so nice, kind, hardworking, name it. His boss loved him so well and always dash him money on a few occasions just to motivate him. He knows very well how to convince buyers to buy and always makes mega sales almost on daily basis.
After 5years in the business, his boss fell ill, a very serious one that finally took his life. He diedðŸ˜. The news of his death was so devastating to Ken. He reflected on all the promises his boss made to him and how his expectations were cut short just at the eleventh hour! He felt so bad about the whole situation and became hopeless.
After the burial of his boss, he approached his family with the agreement over his apprenticeship just to seek a little compensation but got rejected! He cried, dusted himself, and moved on. He went to the church and prayed to God to make another way for him. After 3months, her mother sold some family properties and raised #80,000 for him. She blessed him with it and encouraged him to use it for any little business he can.
Ken was so happy, meanwhile, his friend blamed him severally for not stealing from his boss all the 5 years he served him, they said it's almost a tradition by many apprentices and he shouldn't have been dull about that. Ken never nursed the idea of stealing from his boss and he stood strong to his faith. He, therefore, used the little money given to him by her mum and traveled to the Northern part of Nigeria.
In his voice, "the cost of leaving in the north is more affordable, especially for a beginner like me". In the North, he had a friend who allowed him to be sleeping in his shop after he toils in selling all manner of petty things just to earn profit. After 6months, he was able to make #200,000 from the #80,000 he went with considering his feeding and other expenses. He used part of the money and rented a shop over there. The idea of selling the motor parts he learned from his boss was still so fresh in his mind and so he contacted his boss's business friends who helped him in supplying goods on credit after which, he return the capital to them and they will send it it other goods to him.
It kept going on smoothly for him that way and within one year, Ken became a millionaire. He no longer buys goods on credit but travels to buy them himself and make more profit. He build a well-furnished bungalow, got married, and bought a car within 3years. His hustle finally paid!!
Ken was determined to succeed and that he got, and he persevered despite all gallops he faced. Today he is smiling at his achievements so far. The last time I visited him was superb, the guy is doing well.
Every successful man indeed has a history!!
