Dieting and exercise are a great combo when it comes to staying in shape. Most people nowadays are becoming so intentional about maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and that's quite impressive. Personally, I feel that dieting has a great role to play in maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and the same applicable to exercise.
It is important to know that one doesn't have to engage in physical exercise only when there's a need to lose weight, but something that should be done regularly in order to keep fit and be healthier. Dieting also entails that we eat rightly; if not, the kind of food we consume can make one stay unhealthy, even though you are thinking that you are healthy, but the result might be otherwise.
I was reading an entry from Intishar, and he mentioned that "fat people used to be considered healthy people." This reminds me of what happened between my in-laws and me when I visited my hometown two years ago. My in-laws queried me about not getting fat as a healthy married woman. They said perhaps I am overthinking and that's why I am not getting fat but looks slim. Obviously, they have this mentality that when a wife gets fat, then the husband is taking good care of her. However, I seized the opportunity to educate them about dieting and healthy living, letting them understand that being fat is different from being healthy.
That being said, there are kinds of foods we consume regularly that are so high in calories. The likes of rice, garri, bread, pizza/burgers, ice cream, candies, chocolates, and the almighty junks. These foods, when consumed all the time, will accumulate so many calories in our bodies that adding excessive weight is inevitable. It's good to eat all of that, but c'mon, you can't be consuming that regularly if you are truly intentional about keeping shape and being healthy.
It's important to note that diet foods should be high-nutrient foods with few calories. How much do you consume veggies and reduce your high-calorie food intake? Also, the timing of your meals shouldn't be overlooked. You can't consume a bowl of swallows at night and go to bed; that's the wrong eating habit for the body system. And again, you can't skip your meal in the name of maintaining shape; no, you need adequate nutrients for your body system to function effectively. The idea is to eat rightly and healthier.
Constant workouts and exercising our bodies are very important for our physical fitness and our general well-being. You mustn't visit the gym before working out in case you can't afford the cost. There are varieties of exercise you can engage in at home and still keep fit and burn some calories, a visit to YouTube can give you answers to your questions. Note that you can't be engaging in rigorous exercise and consuming your pizza, sharwama, and junk food daily; that wouldn't give you a desirable result.
In conclusion, maintaining fitness entails regular physical exercise and a proper diet.
