Hello everyone, how are you? I hope you're well. I'm back again through this community prompt. This prompt is very interesting. In fact, a few years ago, female religious scholars gathered to address this issue. What is the abortion problem in Indonesia? I'd like to share what the state is doing about it.
The abortion issue in Indonesia is very complex. After all, Indonesia is an Islamic country. Therefore, some of its legal bases are based on Islamic law, even if they don't explicitly refer to it. For example, in Indonesian law, women who have abortions face a four-year prison sentence. The question after this is why are only women punished?
The law is like that. However, the latest regulation adds conditions for those who can obtain abortions. Namely, women who are victims of sexual violence can have abortions, with very lengthy conditions. For example, they cannot terminate pregnancies that are more than 14 weeks old. Furthermore, only the media can perform abortions.
So, what about married couples who are not ready to have children? To be honest, there are many cases where married couples are not ready to have children. Whether it's due to economic or mental conditions, the couple is not ready to have children. Abortion is not permitted in Indonesia in these circumstances.
On the other hand, with this new regulation in Indonesia, I am quite relieved. Victims of sexual violence can choose not to have children due to the tragedy. For me, this is a breakthrough for Indonesia, which has adopted Islamic law in many of its regulations. Referring to Islamic law, abortion is absolutely prohibited.
So, are many people still having abortions? Of course, because many illegal abortions are performed. For example, in cases of premarital pregnancies. Some doctors and medical personnel are unable to perform abortions because of this. Therefore, abortion practices persist. Who are the victims in these cases?
To be honest, because the existing regulations are not universal, illegal abortions still occur. Of course, in these cases, women are the ones who suffer. One thing that needs to be changed is a comprehensive regulation that applies to everyone and takes into account all cases.
On the other hand, I agree that abortions should only be performed by medical personnel. Why is it only performed by medical personnel? This is to ensure the abortion is performed safely without endangering the woman's life. Abortions have always been life-threatening. Therefore, safe abortions performed by medical personnel are essential.
How is the situation? Do you agree with this? Have you experienced similar situations in my country? If so, please leave a comment below. If not, let's discuss. That's all I can share. See you later.
