"My retirement plan is my CHILDREN" or "God would provide when that time comes"; This is how alot of people plan for their retirement and in most cases it ends up badly for them. It is one thing to retire in your old age and it's another to retire at a young age. However, failing to plan early is planning to fail later.
What would I do if I retire today and am placed on pension for the rest of my life? Would life be boring or would life be fun? These questions keeps ringing in my head since I saw the Hive Learner's prompt for this week. For me, I would try to keep the balance by still generating income and spending fun filled time with my family and friends. Here's how it would be:
Fitness For Boredom |

One thing I have observed about working a 9-5 job is that you hardly get time to engage in some fun filled activities except during vacations, holidays or work breaks. I have seen lots of such workers finding it hard to even spend quality times with their family memebers and loved ones.
In most cases it's not intentional but the workload from the organization won't permit the worker to really have time for themselves. So I believe it would be a wise decision to make up for lost times and activities during retirement.
Even while on retirement and no workload on my hand, I would still not be bored because I would be busy engaging in physical trainings and games with family and friends. These are some of the things that a 9-5 worker crave for but is not given the chance to do.
Fitness activities and games like table tennis, football, gymnastics and many more would keep me healthy and busy, thereby making my retirement a blessing rather than a thing of sorrow or boredom.
Mechanised Farming For Income |

Apart from being physically fit and healthy, my retirement won't be enjoyable if I keep waiting for only pension to get my financial bills paid. It is not advisable to have only one source of income and that is why there is a second part of my decision.
In my last post I made mention that Oil and Gas are the main sources of income in my country, but do you also know that Agriculture is one of the biggest source of income for this country.
We export many of these agricultural products to other countries and the farmers involved are always very rich because they are paid in foreign currencies. For instance, cocoa is planted locally but it is used to make chocolate and other stuffs in big industries within or outside the country.
I can take out some of my time as a retired man and invest in some of these products as it would keep me busy and financially stable as well. It doesn't need to be stressful because I can use machines and modern tools to make the work easy.
Retirement should be a blessing and a thing of happiness because it gives you back your time and energy. It is meant to be enjoyed because at this point you are doing everything at your own pace and not under pressure.
