Hello Friends, |
|---|
Greetings to the Hive ecosystem, and big thanks to the Admin and moderators of the Hive Learner's community for organizing this interesting contest for us.
I welcome you to my entry on the 55th week of the Hive Learner's Featured post. I would be sharing some stories of mine, on when the experience was worth it and when it wasn't.
That One Time When My Experience Was Worth It |
|---|
I could remember the first time I when directed to click on a phishy link on Twitter. It was a strategy by hackers to get access to innocent user's properties and steal their funds.
It was very funny how it nearly happened to me again. Yes, again because I have had my own share of hacks from malicious users. My account had been hacked because of the mistake of clicking an unsecured link having HTTP instead of HTTPS.
HTTPS has proven to be a more secure protocol for the transmission of data and services. But I wasn't vigilant enough to see that the link I clicked on the first day was not secured.
After the bad experience of hacking into my account, I learned to be more focused on the security of a link rather than the offer provided by the link.
It was this experience that helped me detected the popup link on my Twitter as phishy, because it was having the HTTP protocol instead of HTTPS.
From my first experience, after clicking on the link I was required to enter my credentials to get the benefits of the link, but it all ended in tears, as I lost my funds to hackers because of greed and curiosity.
That One Time When I Wished I Never Experience At All |
|---|
One of the most important moments in my life when experience did not help me was when I started college back then in 2019.
It was a completely new environment, full of unfamiliar faces and unfamiliar expectations, and I had no idea how to handle things like registering for classes or living on my own for the first time.
| doing my job as the new course representative |
As one of the first students to resume classes for the new year, I was given the opportunity to represent my coursemates and pass information between my fellow students and lecturers.
It was really a challenging task I wished I never experienced at all because of the trauma and accusations I faced at that time.
This task of course representation was time consuming, and demanding because I would have to get textbook's money from students and give it to the respective lecturers, who then gives me the books to share with the students.
There were times when students would accuse me of mismanaging their funds, thereby causing problems between most lecturers and me.
| Study books of the lazy students still with me |
Some students didn't come for their books even after I announced to them to come for their textbooks. I meet a very unserious set of students at that time, who made my tasks as course representative very challenging and bitter.
Nevertheless, it was an experience that always put smiles on my face whenever I think of it because it made me feel like I have experienced it all.
Conclusion |

Experience is one of the best teachers that we could ever have when it comes to learning something new or challenging, as it can provide valuable insight into how to approach and tackle different problems.
But as we all know, life doesn't always go how we planned or imagined it, because there are times we might wish we never experienced certain things. But in reality, we should be grateful we experienced everything and came out breathing.
