It is that time of the year when different people from different states, culture and a beliefs come together to celebrate, and enjoy every bit of each others company.
Christmas celebrations is really magical. It brings warmth in a cold world. It connects families and friends, and bring about a feeling of joy and security in the midst of any storm.
Though I don't celebrate Christmas (due to personal reasons) I actually enjoy it when I see people celebrate it. Sometimes I admire it and want to join in the celebrations, however, I would not want to.
You know it's Christmas when the wether begins to gradually change. From a time of heavy rainfall to a time of calm weather. Families begin to find their way to where they are from. Villages becomes crowded with people that came back from cities to celebrate with their brothers and sisters.
The giggles from children playing outside with their cousins make the celebration feels better. Meals are shared with love and meaning. Grandma/the most elderly person in the family shares night time stories with kids seated around a camp-like fire. Irrespective of the family feuds, this time is a time of peace, love, celebration, and encouragements between family members.
The celebration is beautiful, but the finances spent in the course of celebrating is huge most times. Over here, during Christmas season, the price of goods and service skyrockets. However, I wonder why it has not yet skyrocketed.
During Christmas season, extravagant spending is almost unavoidable. Being carried away by the celebrations may lead an individual to over spend. Sometimes, people spend all they have in December and become broke in January.
However, to avoid going broke in January, I think people need to economize their funds. This is where they need to incorporate the saying - "cut your coat according to your size" in their daily spendings. It's natural to have the feeling of wanting to spend during the festive season. Some people may go ahead to buy things they don't really need in the name of celebration.
The feeling of wanting to spend a lot of money, or wanting to feel among is one of the major causes of extravagant spending. Sometimes, overspending may not actually be as a result of trying to show of, but as a result of the number of people you are responsible for during the Christmas period.
Nonetheless, I think people should actually learn to make a budget for their spending during December. It would be nice to spend on needs rather than wants. I think Christmas can be happily celebrated on a budget. It's not compulsory to buy every shinny thing on the street. Sometimes, minimalism can help in saving a lot of finances.
I like Christmas and I enjoy it when I see people celebrate it. I even support people that do. However, due to the fact that I personally don't celebrate Christmas, I have no plans of doing any activity for Christmas celebrations. That day will be like a regular day. No Biggie.
