It's been a while I last made a hive post. I've been quite active on snaps though, but not making posts.
For those who are wondering where I'm at, I've actually been busy chasing and building my career, however, the rest of me has been fading slowly. Not only hive, but even my social life. I have to start building back some relationships from start. Would I be as active as I used to be? I don't know. However, what I do know is that I'll try to be making posts everytime I have spare time. I was supposed to come back by the end of this year, but then, the workload reduced, and here I am.
Some months ago, before I became inactive, I made a song which I was supposed to use as an entry for Hive Learners creative Sunday. I didn't want to post the song 'cause I was second guessing and I actually wanted to remake it, but then, I posted it anyways.
I don't know what to name the song. I've not thought of it. I'm actually bad at naming things, most especially, songs. I guess I'll call this song - "Happenings," 'cause I spoke on quite a few things that's happening in real life. My voice touched both drinking and driving, politics, peer oppression and the likes.
The songs beat was generated from Eminem's song, Who Knew. I separated his vocals from the beat and poured out what I had on the beat. Inspiration was also gotten from the song, Who Knew.
So, I'll share my lyrics below, and tell you what I was thinking when I spoke each and every line. Here goes.....
- "As I drink and drive, police just pulled up, everybody put your mother-loving hands on air, you shouldn't drink and drive, you would goddamn crash, no, the people wanna fuck up them life."
I actually wanted to use - As I feel tipsy police just pulled up." Ya'know, something like that.
Anyways, this line speaks about people that drink and drive, or people that drive drunk.
Instead of people taking caution and call a cab guy when they are drunk, they prefer to drive when drunk. They could cause harm to themselves or to others.
There's been a lot of accidents related to drunk driving, and I think it's high time people realise that drinking is not good in the first place, talk more of driving when drunk.
- "I love my country, it has bad politics - no rights, talk much, duck tape, stretched out, to - come and fuck up your life."
Here, I'm talking about the political rascalities of my country. There's a lot to say about this line but then, I think it's self explanatory.
- "Everybody put your mother-loving thumbs on, them'ma put a silly paper on a platform, them'ma tell you to come place thumbs on."
I actually intended to sound sarcastic here. During elections, politician make big promises, however, when they assume office, they will forget their promises. Welp, in my country, the system is rigged. They tell you to place thumbs on a paper place on a platform, knowing fully well that they would definitely rig the election.
- "People come, people go, milk the system."
Presidents come, presidents go. The only thing they share in common is the fact that they milked the system in one way or the other.
- "Love hurts calm down, focus on the bag now."
Here, I'm talking to broke people chase love. Love is sweet, but with money, love is better. Love hurts, you'll get heartbroken but trust me, money will never break your heart. It's not that I don't have faith in love. Okay, truth be told I don't. Lol... But then, to those that actually have faith in love, they should find money while seeking for love. One thing I always believe is that: "I love you don't buy diapers."
- "Oppression filling all the air now, age mates bagging different kind of car now. Pushing people to dey put hands for nonsense, rituals becoming the order of the day now."
Peer pressure is a double edged sword. It can make people do good and it can make people do bad things. Many people that go into scamming in my country, do it because they feel oppressed by their scammer friend buying cars and spending heavily on drinks, drips, and hotels. They want the good life too, so, they scam too. Some even go into ritualism just to make money.
- "I know say things dey go hard, make you just calm down, focus on the bag now, e go pay you erase negativity, work now smile late everything go work out."
This is like a reassurance that hard and smart work pays, not immediately but definitely.
So, that's all for the song. I hope you like it. Thank you for watching and reading. See you later.
