Hello, everyone.
Welcome to my blog and another wonderful edition of the Hive Learners' featured post. Trust me, time travel is one thing a lot of people wish was possible; the opportunity to go back in time and correct a mistake or stop ourselves or someone from making a mistake is indeed something a lot of us would appreciate. Time travel would have indeed been a great gateway to second chances; we would not have to live with a crime or win we committed years ago, as we can easily go back in time and correct it instead of living with the guilt for the rest of our lives.
There are hundreds of people out there who made mistakes in the past and are wishing and looking for an opportunity to correct these mistakes. If only time travel existed, then there would have been a lot of people queuing up to go back to the past to make sure whatever happened on that particular day and time does not happen. I am definitely one of those with a very long list of things they want to go back to the past and change, both personal things and things that concern my dearly beloved country.
There is also a recent happening I would have loved to stop from happening, one that I am sure the masses would appreciate because we have all seen that elections have consequences. That one thing the masses would appreciate is to stop the ascending of power of the current president, which has in so many ways only affected the people and the country's economy wrongly and badly. Since the new government took over power, things went from bad to worse. Stopping the new government from taking over power would definitely do us good and save the people from all this pain and suffering.
For this prompt, I will be focusing on changing just one thing. Though I have a lot of things I really want to change and stop from happening, the whole reason why we are where we are today is because of the amalgamation of Nigeria. Our colonial masters in 1914 brought together the northern, southern, and western protectorates to form a very big lawless country that has in no way benefitted the people but has in many ways enriched them (colonial masters). If I can time travel, I am definitely going back to 1914 to ensure that the amalgamation of the country Nigeria does not happen. If the amalgamation did not happen and all kingdoms and protectorates stayed on their own, I strongly believe things would not have been this bad and the economy would not keep getting worse like what we see in Nigeria today.
Bringing together people with different mother tongues and expecting them all to set aside their differences and live as one was a very big mistake. Some have accepted each other, but trust me, even in the next 20 years, there are some tribes that will never accept each other or see the other tribe as a brother or sister; rather, they see each other as enemies and would want to do anything to ruin the other.
