Hello, everyone.
Welcome to my blog and another wonderful edition of the Hive Learners' featured post. The long-awaited 2024 is here and moving as fast as it can. Sooner or later, we will be wrapping up the year as well, which is why we need to be up and working towards achieving all set goals for the year 2024. If you are relaxed and think you still have time, then you are wrong.

2023 was a good year despite the ups and downs. The difficulties faced prepared us for 2024 and what it has in store for us. In my life, the new year has been just another day. Since 2017, my dad fell for a scam, and our finances have not been the same since then. While we were growing up, we got lots of gifts and went on little outings during the festive season and on New Year's Day, but after he got scammed, all that stopped, and we just cooked and enjoyed the celebration at home.
It seems like the situation he found himself in made him forget how things used to be while we were growing up. The new year started in church after a cross-over service that ended at exactly 12:30 a.m. The pastor decided to hold the new year service immediately so that once members go back home, you can rest and kick-start your new year celebration afterwards without bothering about coming back for another service. At first, I did not like the idea, but after I enjoyed my sleep after the service at 3 a.m, I thank God the pastor adopted that pattern.
We were at home until 12 p.m; the day almost passed as another day, but I asked my dad if we could go out as a family. At least let's make the year memorable by creating memories on the first day of the year. He first of all declined, but I had to keep pushing until he was forced to say yes. From the moment he said yes, I became the happiest person on earth to have seen the new year. The outing was scheduled for 4 p.m, and I really could not wait. I checked my time every 30 minutes.
At 4 p.m., the long-waited hour has come. Everyone rushed to freshen up, as no one wanted to be left out. He asked me if I knew a spot, and I told him knowing good spots was my specialty. I told him to just be driving, and I directed him. We arrived at a joint known as Isi Ewu Joint (where goat pepper soup is prepared). He ordered three plates, one for the parents and two for the children. Each plate cost 4,000 naira ($4), and while we waited for the drinks, we got drinks.
My siblings were laughing when I ordered malt, when clearly I don't drink malt, but I had to since I was with my parents. The way they laughed made me join them in laughing. We were out till nightfall and had drinks after drinks. My parents were at the far end of the table while we were at the other end. It did not pass as just another day, and the outing was the first in years.
