Exactly one month ago, I made a decision. Sitting in my dorm here in Ghana, with barely enough cedis to cover data bundles, I realized: if I keep waiting for the “
So I started with what I had:
- A Hive account I barely understood
- About $324 in crypto spread across SOL, BTC, and ETH
- A dream to one day buy my own car.
I was scared. I didn’t know charts, I didn’t know what “APR” meant, and words like “liquidity pool” sounded like a swimming lesson. But I started anyway.
What I Did:
I powered up my first HIVE — all 1.282 of it — and watched my HP grow.
I moved my 0.806 HBD into savings because someone here said it earns 15% —free money just for holding.
I staked my SOL because why let it sit?
I wrote. Even when I felt I had nothing to say, I wrote. About crypto, about being a student in Ghana, about my small hopes.
What Happened:
My HP grew from 17.7 to 19.0.
I started receiving author rewards small, but real.
I met people -Nigerians, Kenyans, Europeans — all building like me.
I realized crypto isn’t just trading; it’s learning, connecting, and creating before you even make a cedi.
The Real Lesson:
You don’t need to be rich to start.
You don’t need to know everything to begin.
You just need to show up, consistently, and be willing to learn in public.
Where I’m Heading:
I’m still that Ghanaian student with a dream car fund.
I’m still taking it day by day.
But now I’m not just dreaming — I’m documenting, building, and growing with all of you.
I’d love to know:
- Did you also start with almost nothing?
- What was the first crypto win that made you believe “I can do this”?
- Any other students or young builders here? How do you balance dreams and daily reality?
