Good day, people of Hive! Welcome to my blog. Today's topic is from Hive-Learners which says:Sugar Ban. So let's dive in.
Honestly, sugar is not just something sweet anymore, because it's in almost everything we eat and drink. And the saddest part is that not many of us even realize how much sugar we are consuming everyday. So when we talk about regulating sugar the way alcohol is regulated, it's not a bad idea at all. But the thing is that sugar and alcohol are not the same. They’re different, and they can both cause damage when taken too much.
Alcohol is regulated because it can affect our body and make us lose control when we drink too much of it. It can cause accidents when we’re not careful, and it can even make us addicted if we’re not mindful. But sugar doesn’t make us drunk or cause us to fall inside gutters like alcohol when we take too much. The problem with sugar is that it causes slow damage. It doesn’t shout, it just damages our body system slowly, little by little, until one day the damage starts showing up.
Too much sugar can cause high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, tooth decay, and so on. The painful part is that you might be taking too much sugar every day and still feel normal, until it becomes a big problem in the nearest future.
One big reason why sugar should be regulated more is because it’s damage slowly just like I said. Someone can say they don’t take sugar, but they’re still drinking or eating sweet things like yoghurt, sweet biscuits, mineral, and so on.
I’m this kind of person that once loved consuming sugar a lot. Whenever I wanted to take something that needed sugar, like garri, I would use like 3 spoons because I wanted it to be extra sweet. Until my sisters warned me to stop consuming too much sugar, that was when I reduced it.
Now, whenever I want to drink garri, I only use groundnut, except I’m just craving for sweet garri, that’s when I add sugar. And the way I drink soft drinks has reduced too, because sugar is too much inside them.
And also, if we’ve noticed, some old people that don’t use sugar still have diabetes. That’s because during their young age, they consumed a lot of sugar, and the effect is now showing up in their old age. That’s why we hear doctors saying the effect can show up after many years of consuming that particular thing. I’ve also heard how diabetes and high blood pressure have killed a lot of people because of this sugar matter.
In conclusion, the truth is, if they ban sugar, what about the sugar inside fruits? Yes, I’m not saying sugar shouldn’t be regulated. It should be, but in my own opinion, I think sugar regulation should be in a balanced way. The only way it can be balanced is that instead of adding too much sugar, it should be minimal.
