Good day, people of Hive! Welcome to my blog. So let's dive into today's topic.
Yes! We all know that when a woman gives birth, they are given 12 weeks of maternity leave. This period is generally divided into six weeks, that is six weeks before the expected day so that they will start to be preparing for the coming of the newborn, and the remaining six weeks after birth are to make them gain back their energy and strength they used to give birth to the baby in order to resume back to their working place.
As for the paternity leave, the fathers are entitled to the paternity leave because paternity leave allows the fathers to bond with their newborn, support their partners, and adjust to the family dynamics. Though the paternity leave may not be up to the maternity leave, they are still entitled to the leave because the mother's alone can't be doing everything all by herself; she needs the support of her partner.
I would love to list out why the father's are entitled to the paternity leave.
Family bonding: The paternity leave can allow fathers to build a strong connection with their child from the beginning, because early bonding between the fathers and their newborn is crucial for the child's emotions.
Support for partners: The paternity leave enables the fathers to support their wives who just gave birth by doing the household responsibility, going for an errand for their wives, and easing the burden of their partners and caring for the newborn.
Bonding of relationships between partners: The paternity leave can strengthen the bond or relationship between the partners by cooperating together and making them have shared experiences between each other.
Moreover, fathers who are actively involved in their child's early care tend to have a stronger and better relationship with their children.
All these are the reasons why fathers are entitled to paternity leave.
Though we have some people who said paternity leave for fathers is not that necessary because if paternity leave is given to the fathers, who will be providing for the family, especially the things the newborn baby needs, what people do not know is that if the fathers do not have paternity leave, how will they make any bond between them and their newborn? Because of the child's mentality, he/she will think the fathers value money or their workplace more than them. Not everything is all about money; I don't say money is not good, but there are some areas that don't need money, and there's time for everything, especially if it pertains to bonding with their family or close ones.
In conclusion, paternity leave supports the needs of the family and also recognises the role of both the parents in childrearing, because we can't put all the responsibility on the mothers head because they are not the only ones who make the baby. As I said earlier, paternity leave may not be longer than maternity leave, but still they have the right to bond with their newborn.
