Reading romantic novels or watching romantic movies makes lots of people believe that love is a fairytale but in reality, love just isn't like that. I love to watch movie especially romantic movies but to an extent because most of the things they display makes people believe in different things about love.
I will take Korean drama as an example, before now, I usually don't like Korean movie because most of them is not always subtitled so I have to read while I watch which I don't really enjoy but after watching some of their movies, they made me believe that love is like a fairytale. Most of the things they act isn't even real, I believe they just want people to believe that what they watch or read on novels can be applicable to real life.
Most people after reading or watch such romantic movies will want their relationship to be like what they have read which will actually make some people go extra miles just to ruin the relationship they took years to build.
This reminds me of a movie I watched with my friend when a girl knows fully well that she was in danger and she could even get killed by the same person she claims she is in love with but she chose to stay by his side. She knew the man was a monster and whenever he changes, he doesn't even know who he is anymore, the next thing is to go after the girl so he could kill her and get her eyes. This particular girl has been saved several times by different people but she still choose to stay with the guy because she believed she could change him. Although I'm not done with the movie yet because it's a series movie and I don't even know the fate of the girl anymore.
We all know that this kind of love doesn't exist in this country especially when you know that you're in a very big danger that might even take your life. I remembered asking my friend if that's how people show love over their because I know it's so impossible in Nigeria but we both laughed over it.
Aside this, let me bring you back to my country Nigeria, most of the romantic movies they produce is just not real because if it was, why are most of them who act the drama not practicing it in real life aside acting as film? There are some questions we need to ask ourselves before indulging in somethings.
There's no doubt that love make us do some crazy things but let's tell ourselves the truth that most of the romantic movie we watch or romantic novels we read doesn't really work in real life.
Now to answer the question, romantic movies or novels only give us an idea or clue on how relationship is meant to be, we can only creat the perfect relationship we want but if we decide to follow the way romantic movies are, we might get disappointed at the end because we might not get what we're looking for.
