Since technologies became advanced, it has made it more easier for people far and near to communicate with each other without haven to travel a far distance just to see each other. It has made so many things very easy and accessible to most people who carry out their businesses online.
Should I say that I'm very happy that I wasn't born in those days where communication was quite difficult. I could remember when my mom told me how life was back in those days where you have to write a letter to a family member very far from you and sometimes, it might take weeks to get to the person and before he/she could reply, it will also take another time for that. No one knew what was going on in the world, whatever the news paper report is what we'll believe based on the fact that there was no means of technology. To even make new friends was hard except you have to go round your community to get new friends, also to advertise your business was also very hard for those living average life while those who have the funds can easily advertise theirs using newspaper means.
Chatting on social media has so many advantages and like you all know that everything that has its good part also have their own bad part. One of the good thing I have achieved through chatting on social media include;
Making new friends online: I'm the kind of person that can easily interact with people especially online because I know you won't get to see me for the period that we'll get to know each other. I made I very good friend few years back and up till now we still do keep in touch with each other, one thing I like about him is that he always advise me on so many things and how to sort out some issues. His friendship has really helped me and we have both benefited from each.
Easy communication with love ones: I'm sure most people here stay with their families or love ones but I haven't seen my mom for a very long time now and even my siblings but chatting and video calls has made it looked like I'm with them physically. If I miss their faces, all I need to do is just to call them on video calls and talk with them, we can be on call or chat for hours which is one of the most important thing I like about social media.
Helps to advertise and sell your goods and services: those who are involved in online businesses will testify to what I'm saying. Through social media, you can easily sell your goods without having to meet the person physically. You can also advertise your goods and people can easily patronize you. My friend has benefited through this means, she posts her goods online and someone she doesn't even know saw the goods and decided to Patronize her, which is very good.
Like they say, everything that has its good side also have it's own bad side. We use socal media to do lots of things but the bad side include;
Addiction: this is the major problem about chatting especially we the students, it makes us very lazy to even study our books. Most of our time is spent chatting with friends, getting to know the recent trend such as the latest songs, new movies, TikTok videos and all, forgetting that we still have many things to do with our precious time.
It will be bad in my own part if I refuse to admit that chatting on social media is good because it's advantages are just too numerous. So yes it's not bad to chat with friends, the only thing we need to do is to make sure that what we ought to have done offline shouldn't be postponed.
