Before the coming of social media, there was less of fake news but the coming social media gives access to everyone who has an android phone with data to post and share any kind of fake news without verification.
In recent times, there were some Nollywood actors that were said to be death but after some time, they come out to debunked the fake news.
There are others series of fake news however, I'm going to share one which happened because of someone I know personally.
Fake news turned true
Wonder why I said fake news turned true? Then relax and come with me as I share with you.
Mr. Jamilu was a hard working man, living across the rail lines from my house with his wife, two kids and was a truck driver. Unfortunately, Mr fell I'll and his health was deteriorating each passing day which was a great concern to friends, family and neighbours.
On a fateful Tuesday morning, we woke up with a shock over a news on Facebook shared by one of his friends about his demise.
The neighborhood turned into mourning mood and people began trooping down to his residence to register their condolences but as God will make it, the news turned out to be fake to the relieved of all.
Notwithstanding, the same person who posted the about the fake news was pressurized into debunking his earlier fake news.
Personally, I always don't want to be the first to share a message concerning bereavement. I always want to verify over and over again before I pass the information because I believe life is too precious and shouldn't be toiled with the rumours of death.
Do you know that after a week, the news about the death of Mr Jamilu turns out to be true this time around.
People believed he gave up because he thought we have already given up on him because of the fake news which circulated earlier.
In all you do, avoid spreading fake news as it could be dangerous and disastrous.
