Greetings, everyone!
Super excited to participate here. According to the contest question.
Would it be okay for everyone to give up their rights to privacy?
My response to this question is that, it wouldn't really be okay for me to give up my right to privacy. Unless on a serious consequences. Just like what happened to a young man who was visiting his family. On his way, he was attacked. The attackers with weapons demanded his phone and ATM card. At that point, he had to surrender his phone and ATM to those attackers to ensure his life was safe. While some refused to surrender their privacy, they were shot to death.
My privacy is my life, and I don't tend to reveal it to anybody, and nobody has the right to know it. Even the government does not have the right to be monitoring every one of my steps because they are not God. He is the only one who can protect me in and out.
I have the right to go anywhere without any restrictions as an adult, and I have the freedom to know my mistakes and protect them, without anyone knowing my weak point unless I want to share. My journey, my friendship with people, my thoughts, and my plans for my future should not be exposed unnecessarily for privacy purposes.
I am in a relationship, and I know the kind of people I share with, not everybody. People with spiritual authority who have gone ahead of me in marriage and in spiritual matters, with whom I share, not everyone. When many people are involved, I'll start receiving counsel that is not right for this journey, some might even talk me down or discourage me,. I'm doing this so I will have space to think, to watch, to pray, and hear what the lord is saying concerning my relationship. In every aspect of a man's life, we need to be strategic and creative in planning and doing things.
Moreover, I wouldn't want my life to be monitored, by the government or anyone. I don't want my calls, discussions, steps, or even my private encounters with my heavenly father to be monitored.
Therefore, I can't give up all my privacy for humans to watch over, if not I will die. The government should do its minor work of monitoring people so as not to have access to the whole people's lives. We also have a say in our lives, and our boundaries should not be crossed but should be respected and honored.
I know when to step out and not to. Last week I attended our party and my PPA, and before I knew it was very late at night and my distance was far. Knowing fully well that my street is not always safe, I had to stay back and sleep in my colleague's house till the following morning before I could go. Life is simple if we can follow simple principles.
My privacy is my privacy and my God is my security guard
