I've never really loved mathematics. I mean aside from calculating my own money, anything that has to do with calculations comes off as boring to me and this is really huge, considering the fact that I'm an engineering student.
But hey, not loving maths doesn't mean I don't know how to do my calculations. Contrary to what people say, you don't really have to love something to be good at it, you just need other forms of motivations. Like me, what keeps me going when it comes to calculating in class is the fear of failing.
So yeah, I might not be a maths lover or genius, but I still know a couple of calculations just so that I can always come out with good scores after every exam.
Anyways, enough of mathematics already. According to today's Hive Learners contest, if there's one subject I'd love to teach if I even find myself in such position, what would it be? Well for me, it will be English language.
My reason of picking English language is actually very simple and it's because it doesn't require calculations. I get it that there are some certain things in English language (when you do decide to study deep about it) that might not be that easy to understand at first, but I just feel like whatever it is, I will eventually get it.
Unlike mathematics where I probably have to go mad at least twice before finally finding the right formula to solve the equation. So English language will definitely be one of those languages simply because I don't want stress, I want something I can read and understand enough to be able to reach it to someone else.
And I say that because during my fist year in school when I still went for tutorials, there had been situations where we ask the dude in charge of the tutorial how he got certain figures on the maths equations and all he says to us is just to cram it.
And sometimes I don't really blame him because I know he probably hates his job and is only doing it for the money because I don't see how anyone in their right senses will want to do something like that for a living out of love for mathematics.
It's not normal.
Anyways, if I'm asked to pick some other subject aside from English, it will probably be Geography because I love geography. It's one of those few subjects out there that makes me feel like I'm traveling all over the world without actually leaving my seat. It's amazing.
I remember I used to be really good at geography back in high school but when I did my research on what kind of jobs there are on that subject, I wasn't satisfied, so I went for engineering, not for the love of maths but because I've always loved playing around electrical equipments.
If only I knew the process it would take to becoming an actual engineer, I probably would have opted for something else but no regrets over here, it was my choice and I'm happy about it.
So there you have it, English or Geography.
